For mothers whose child is diagnosed with autism
My dd1 was also diagnosed to be ASD when she was about 3yo. It turned dh and my world outside down. Life was never the same after that. I can still recall the anguish and turmoil that we went thru. And yet, the diagnosis helped to explain the many "mysteries" surrounding her behaviour.
The positive thing is that, in discovering early, you can start your child on early intervention. This is very important as it will help her and your family cope with AS much more effectively
On Children
Your children are not your children.
They are the sons and daughters of Life's longing for itself.
They come through you but not from you,
And though they are with you yet they belong not to you.

Children's books about hardship and survival
I always believe that reading is not only about learning grammar and vocabulary so as to get high marks in exams.
More importantly, children can learn about good morals and values, life experiences and a wide variety of knowledge by reading good books. Many children in Singapore are not motivated to study, because they have never experienced hunger before. They take it for granted that their parents will always be around to take care of them. I want my kids to read children's books about hardship and survival, so that they learn to be grateful for what they have.
Inspirational Story - The Trouble Tree
I hired a plumber to help me restore an old farmhouse, and after he had just finished a rough first day on the job, a flat tyre made him lose an hour of work, his electric drill quit and his ancient one-ton truck refused to start. While I drove him home, he sat in stony silence.
On arriving he invited me in to meet his family. As we walked towards the front door, he paused briefly at a tree, touching the tips of the tree. When opening the door he underwent an amazing transformation.
His tanned face was wreathed in smiles and he hugged his two small children and gave them a kiss. Afterward he walked me to the car. We passed the tree and my curiosity got the better of me. I asked him about what I had seen him do earlier.
The Days I Made My Mother Cry
I made my mother cry on four occasions.
The first was in 1972, during the Primary One registration. Born to a family of 9, and having spent the first 6 years of my life running around a tiny 1 room flat at Mattar Road, I was a super lazy kid who ended up last in my PAP kindy because I hated going to school. I had been expecting to go to Mattar School where my 5th sister was studying, but somehow my mother got wind of an opportunity to register me in St. Andrew's Primary from a neighbour.
Hachiko - A tale about loyalty and unconditional love.
This is a simple but heart warming tale about Love and Loyalty. It is base on a true story behind a bronze statue of an Akita dog just outside of Shibuya Train Station in Tokyo, Japan.
The film starts with a young boy telling the story of a dog which belongs to his grandfather, a professor who commutes to work by train everyday. The dog will walk with him to the train station everyday and return to wait for him to return home everyday.
Children Won't Wait
Children Won't Wait
Children will not wait for parents’ schedules to improve while they build their careers or pursue their own interests. There is no waiting until a more convenient time. Training of children must be done while they are young and still trainable, because children just won’t wait.
