Engaging A Nanny

My MIL was a full-time nanny of over 20 years exp.
I don't know the current market rate but I know she used to charge between S$400-S$700 depending on whether the child stays overnight with the nanny or only during daytime.

Some parents like to make it a daily affair by letting the child sleep in their own house. So, parents usually bring the child to the nanny's in the morning and pick them up around 7pm.

Some will let the child stay with nanny overnight during the weekdays and pick him/her on Friday nights.

Understanding Pre-school Curriculum

Want to share with all how the curriculum of preschool comes about.

Brand new centres with no well established franchise support will have no curriculum, especially if the owner has no experience in this field. If the principal is experienced, then she may have some 'stolen' materials from her ex centres to begin with. Teachers are told they have to do a particular theme in a particular month and then they are left to sink or float. If you see centres using photocopied materials from published / copyrighted assessment books (those available from Popular), their 'curriculum' usually falls into this category.

Kids More Active With Balls, Jump Ropes

Newswise - Children play harder and longer when their child-care centers provide portable play equipment such as balls and jump ropes, more opportunities for active play and physical activity training and education for staff and students, according to researchers at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Public Health.

Increased activity levels help children maintain a healthy weight, the researchers say, which is critical as obesity rates climb nationwide, especially among children.
