Official PSLE COPs for 2009 and 2010 Secondary 1 Intake
This is a follow-up of the PSLE COPs thread that I started in the forum. I have compiled the official COPs from the MOE for both 2009 and 2010 Secondary 1 intake.
Please note that all figures are for the Express Steam only and for Non-Affiliation Intake. All COPs include HMT bonus points. Those schools with an * behind the COPs means that they only took in their own afflilated pupils from the Primary School for the Seconday 1 intake.
Not sure if the figure for ACS Independent is the IB COP or the O level route. I simply copied from the MOE's website. I am not very familiar with ACS Independent's system, so regret to say that I won't be able to answer anything relating to the COP for ACS Independent. I am just doing my bit to compile a list to make it easier for parents to compare the COP for 2009 and 2010. I seek your understanding in this matter.

Help Your Child To Love Homework
My boy has started at a new kindergarten for N1 and he has weekly homework plus reading tests. Just share what we have done to show some positive results.
I was so worried when the school told us that there's homework cos I was worried that he'll resist doing homework that we had a 'plan'. It was tough cos we wanted him to love homework and did not want him to feel forced.
First homework came on Wednesday. It was a writing practice on the number '1'. Then came the 2nd piece of homework, a writing practice on small letter 'a'. And there were flashcards for him to practice reading (both English & Chinese).
My hb, maid and I figured out a 'plan':
My Experience With Homeschooling
I read the discussions on homeschooling with great interest.
I homeschooled my son when he was K1 n K2 .
I have friends who homeschool their children and know enough of what the homeschooling community's activities are like.
Why I want to Homeschool?
1. The schools have rigid, one size fits all curriculum. It is impossible to customise learning according to each child's need, interest, potential and progress.
From PSLE to University
Quite a few people asked me. So thought I'd share here how I get my children prepared for university in 2 to 3 years after their PSLE. I'm just a mum who does not want my children to go through the sad Singapore system (PSLE is enough). If this helps you, I am glad.
What I did was to select a Diploma course for my children when they finished their PSLE. Singapore's Maths does give a good foundation to the children, so I make sure they learn that properly. In addition, my children do not go for tuition or anything throughout their Primary school years, but they read very widely. I don't train them but I read to them alot, 4 of them started reading very early (at 4), my last child read later as I had very little time to read to him.
Singapore Primary Schools Ranked By Parental Loyalty
So which are the schools that parents keep sending their kids back to? The following index ranks Primary Schools based on the average Take-Up Rate (TUR) up to Phase 2A, which measures how eager parents who were ex-students or who already have kids in the schools are in sending their younger kids to the same schools. This is actually another popularity measurement, since the schools which will NOT have many places left for "outsiders" are also those with the most loyal parents.
Also, note that new schools will be most likely ranked lower in this index due to the lack of a large alumni community.
Thinking Course for kids? A semester at Thinking Loft.
I admit it, it was a free trial that first attracted me to sign up my then 3 and a half year old. Thinking skills was not exactly high in my priority list as far as enrichment was concern then. Sure, learning about thinking is beneficial for me at university level but thinking course for kids? hmmm I don't know about that.
