Healthy Start Child Development Centre
Location
This centre is operated by the Beyond Social Services.
A safety net for disadvantaged children who cannot access mainstream early childhood education.
It is our belief that children learn when they play as play is children's work and play is how children find out about the world. We also believe that children need good, caring and warm interactions with their teachers and friends as well as a warm and secure environment that challenges them to reach their potential.
Hence, our Programme aims to
- develop children as all rounded individuals in a good quality environment
- prepare children for life-long learning in an appropriate and meaningful context
- nurture a positive and caring partnership with parents/ guardians
- Admission is strictly by invitation only based on challenges faced by the family as assessed by our community workers.
Children attend the Full Day Program when:
- mother or father in single parent family works more than 56hrs per month
- special consideration needs to be given to non-working mothers based on Community Worker's assessment on a case-by-case basis
- mother or father in a single parent family is retrenched and is actively looking for a new job. Failure to secure a job after 3 months will lead to the child's placement in the half-day program.
The Half-Day Program is for:
- children of a non-working mother
- children of a mother actively looking for a full-time job
