A childcare more like a home

I have decided to write a review here after 2 years my girl has attended this childcare as I find that this little school has been easily “isolated” by the big chains out there. I started putting her there at 2.5 yr old when I was about to deliver my 2nd child. I did not do much survey as this one is recommended by my cousin. I was thrilled by the big compound of the school as I want my girl to have more outdoor activities.

Shooting star moved to Jln Shaer in the end of 2010 Dec. The big outdoor play area has reduced but still in a reasonable size. The new centre is a little inconvenience if you do not drive but not so bad after SSC started very frequent shuttle services around this region.

I like the teachers there as they are very dedicated. It has a home-like feeling with only 40+ students in a double storey house. It will be a great place if you like small group teaching for your kids. I would think that this school is very strong in Chinese teaching as the Chinese teachers are from China and they enforced Chinese speaking among the students in the school. Besides, Abacus and Han Yu Pinyin etc will be taught in K1/K2 without extra cost.

This school has its own kitchen and food is cooked and served by the kitchen, not catering from outside. The teachers are very flexible in term of food serving as they have 2 extra helpers in the kitchen. When my girl was late to school and I requested to serve breakfast for her, the teacher did that too. I remember when my girl was at PG class, her classmate drink 3-4 times of milk a day in the school and the teacher also did that without complaint. I was told by some friends that some schools only limit the milk serving to 1-2 times a day.

No complaint for the school facilities so far as it is newly renovated last year, clean and well ventilated. A bit warm in the sunny afternoon as it is a landed house but aircorn will be turned on during hot sunny days. My girl likes the weekly water play at the school compound. She also enjoys the sand digging and small playground there. Once in a while they will go to the nearby park which is less than 5min walk from school.

I am pleased and happy with this school so far because I know my girl is well-taken care of.
