Did you know? Kids can have a place in the kitchen too!

Thinking of letting your child pick up a new skill? Why not consider cooking?

These days, the notion that kitchens should be out-of-bounds for young ones is gradually trickling away like tap water down a sink. Parents are enrolling their kids in baking and cooking classes, specially tailored for participants from as young as four years old.

When kids don their little chefs’ hats and go hands-on with fun and easy-to-make recipes, they are, at the same time, putting on their thinking caps – exercising their creativity in the dishes they make and improving their motor skills.

Getting kids into the home kitchen from a young age is a good way to make learning about healthy food more enjoyable.

A family cook-out is a great opportunity for bonding; you can also teach child about the nutritional benefits of each ingredient in a recipe. What’s more, when you encourage kids to taste and smell new ingredients, they may also learn to overcome picky eating habits.

So what shall I make for my next cooking session with my kid, you ask?

Little nibbles and finger snacks are always popular choices. Here are two simple recipes made with cereals that can be whipped up in a jiffy. To pump up the nutrition, do opt for cereal made with whole grain, such as NESTLÉ BREAKFAST CEREAL. Your child can take part in the activity by adding the cereal, slicing the fruit with a bread knife and mixing the ingredients together.

Cooking can be fun and fuss-free. Enjoy!
