To titank

I finally got chance to check out the e-dict. Luckily, they included English version of the manual otherwise I'm doomed. However, sometimes the English version made me so blur, I had to refer to the Chinese version to figure out the steps.

Basically, the manual is straight to the point, after I got the hang of it. I think it has more functions than my DD could use, considering her basic level of Chinese. I asked sashimi to look through the manual too so that we could decide together which functions to teach her first. When she becomes more proficient in Chinese, we'll teach her more. Hoepfully, sashimi can handle it with no problem cos if DD needs help with it and I'm not around or busy, he can help.

I think my DD should find the following useful:

1. Using HYPY to find the Chinese character. 2. Finding associated words. 3. Learning how to write the Chinese character in the proper order (笔顺). 4. Listening to how the character is pronounced via the bundled earphones.

However, my DD must learn to overcome these 2 main obstacles:

1. Learning to use the e-dict in Chinese as all the functions and display are in Chinese. 2. Getting her Chinese up to a certain standard fast as the definitions are all in Chinese.

So far, she is very keen on learning how to use it, after sashimi has a look at it. At least she can recognise the 开/关 switch on her own. (Phew!)

Buds Team, Oh what

Buds Team,

Oh what happended after the Friday auction. I don't think I would really need the E-Dict lah since my kid just in K2. You should keep it to both yr childs so both of them won't fight.

Quote buds: For extreme

Quote buds: For extreme diligence in trying to earn KPs... For the humility in asking all the questions, over and over again until the titank-er fully understood and became less blur... For the extreme determination to use up those hard-earned KPs to win something of value for the benefit of the titank-er's child...

Actually hor, I thought amylqf was the one who was extremely diligent in trying to earn KPs? ...but of course, titank too, who voted for quite a number of schools and gave several kudos on 24/25 Jun. But I was REALLY impressed with amylqf, she gave kudos to many parents, esp on 21/22 Jun, and writng articles and comments to gain more points for the coming auctions.

And hor, I thought it was amylqf who had the "extreme determination to use up those hard-earned KPs to win something". I thought she was sooo determined to win that she used up nearly all her points on the 24 Jun auction. Seemed to me that titank was not as "hiong" as compared to amylqf.

But can't deny the fact that titank asked a lot of questions to make sure he/she? is as clear as crystal regarding the rules of auction.

Since amylqf was successful in bidding for the e-dic, I guess titank wld be the next in line, for being so persistent in these auctions.

Cheers!

OK, maybe I should explain

OK, maybe I should explain why I posted the comments that I did. It was the 24 Jun auction that triggered it. To put the record straight, I wasn't even present during the auction. It was when I reached home and ran thru the whole proceedings that I formed certain assumptions that prompted me to make the comments.

I didn't understand WHY throughout the auction, buds kept "advertising" several times to "sell" her just won e-dic that she got the day before, somemore must plus tax...ie. (bid price of 1115 + tax of 198 = 1313). And to me, it seemed that throughout the auction, buds kept increasing the bid price in the hundreds to surpass her "selling" price, which made me think that she was desperately trying to make the bid price higher so that people wld get the e-dic from her. (Click on the Wed 24 Jun auction above and run thru it. You'll understand what I mean.)

I felt so sorry for titank (and amylqf as well, she played sooo hard that she nearly lost all her points), that someone who had just won the SAME thing had to come in and manipulate the bid price for those 2 poor souls who didn't have so much points to spare. I don''t think it wld be "fun" for me at all if I REALLY wanted to win the auction but at the same time, won't loose all my points.

Now I know it's a misunderstanding and I'm glad that titank has FINALLY got the e-dic.

I must stress again that my comments concerning the 24 Jun auction were meant in jest but I wasn't good at putting them down in writing. In fact, I didn't think buds was "greedy" lah, I was just teasing her.   Well, if buds had heard me say it instead, I guess she wouldn't be so offended.

P/S: Hee...perhaps I should have just "shut up and sit down" and mind my own business.  (My stick-out tongue, meaning "oops!", not "bleh" hor...)

Wow... Thanks, buds and buds_hubs!

First, jedamum gave away 1111 of her very hard earned KiasuPoints just to give a $360 donation to Charmaine.  Now we have buds and buds_hubs giving away 1542 of their KiasuPoints just so that titank can be guaranteed of a Besta... it may not be Christmas yet, but the spirit of giving is definitely thick in the air!

This has been a pretty rough series so far, with lots of misunderstandings from other members thinking the worst of each other in our rush to gain KiasuPoints.  There's a lesson to be learnt here: KiasuParents may be "kiasu", but it is our spirit of sharing that sets us apart from those that gave the bad connotation to the word "kiasu".  This is the path that we need to thread on if our nation is to become the gracious and honorable global economy that our children can inherit and build on in their time.  And our Grandmasters are leading the way for us on this path.

Thank you, jedamum, buds, and buds_hubs!
