No matter how things turn out..

A blind boy sat on the steps of a building with up turned hat by his feet.  He held up a sign which said:

"I am blind, please help."

There were only a few coins in the hat.

A man was walking by. He took a few coins from his pocket and dropped them into the hat.  He then took the sign, turned it around and wrote some words. He put the sign back so that everyone who walked by would see the new words.

Soon the hat began to fill up. More people were giving money to the blind boy.  That afternoon the man who had changed the sign came to see how things were.  The boy recognized his footsteps and asked,  "Were you the one who changed my sign this morning?  What did you write?"

The man said,  "I only wrote the truth. I said what you said but in a different way."

I wrote : "Today is a beautiful day, but I cannot see it."

Both signs told people that the boy was blind. But the first sign simply said the boy was blind. The second sign told people how they were so fortunate that they were not blind.

Moral of the story:

Be thankful for what you have…

Be creative.  Be innovative.

Think differently and positively.

When life gives you a 100 reasons to cry, show life that you have 1000 reasons to smile.

Face your past without regret.

Handle your present with confidence.

Prepare for the future without fear.

Keep the faith and drop the fear.  The most beautiful way to start your day, is to have someone smile at you… And it’s even more beautiful to know that you are the reason behind it!!!

Enjoy your week with a heart of gratitude…

Having faith is not about everything turning out OK…

Having faith is about being OK no matter how things turn out.

Hi Buds

Thank you for sharing. After reading your post, I feel so silly. There are so many unfortunate people out there and here I am, so caught up and worried over whether my dd can enter NYGH.

You see, she scored 259+3 for her PSLE and awaiting her posting results which is due next week, 21st dec. Her first choice is NYGH and second is Dunman High. As it is a borderline case for her first choice, I am worried sick.

However, having read your post, I feel so small. Anyway, thanks for sharing.

South America story

Hi Buds, The story is a true one which happened somewhere in South America (Argentina, Chile, something like that). The boy was a true beggar and the man was someone working in advertising industry – this is how it explains the inspirational text he wrote. I’m happy that you have found it and post it here to be an inspiring for your readers, cercei argint.

Crossroad..

Quote Fuzz, "Hi buds, thanks for sharing this story. It comes at a time where I feel I’m at a crossroad, unsure of what the future holds. And it’s scary.

This inspirational little story reminded me that I should always count my blessings and have faith. Thanks!"

Heyya Fuzz.. *hugs* .. while i may not know the crossroad you’re at now, i can somehow empathize with you as i was at a few crossroads myself the last two years Faith had some impact. Together with the love in my heart that also had something to do with those decisions i eventually made in the end as well. I was scared too then, truth be told.  So it really struck a chord in me and somehow soothed me, when i read that final liner… trusting myself, that i’d be ok no matter how things turn out. Family and friends’ support and interestingly cyber support here helped eased that journey on the scaary road to the more settled one i have today.."

Treasure it

Quote BlurBee, "Thanks buds. Yes, we need to always remember how fortunate we r."
Most welcome. 🙂 Yes indeed we should try to sometimes remember how so fortunate we all are, for it’s usually when we have lost it, we’d realize how we should’ve treasured it in the 1st place. While in some instances, they can still be salvaged, some situations do not allow for turning back…..

Heyya cwc, thank you. Like you, i do believe we need some kind of inspiration along the way in our journey of being a parent to our children, a partner to our spouse and a normal person in our own way, who in that journey will encounter some road blocks whether we see it coming or not. Similar reminders may hopefully help us get back on track… the track that we once endeavoured to stay straight with but somehow strayed… along that way. This was shared by a friend. I cannot thank her enough for having shared this beautiful article with me. Today was indeed a wonderful day for me. Am hoping for more beautiful days to come..
You have a beautiful week ahead too, cwc. *hugs*
