Agree, good health to everyone and their kids too.

Hi Insider,

do you do a lot of computer work? Usually the carpal tunnel condition is linked to that. have you tried changing to more ergonomic mouse/keyboards etc? You can find them in Challenger Superstore.

Take care and all the best!

thanks greenq for sharing your story. which TCM did u go to? I m very cautious abt TCM cos I dun know what they put into the medicine. Plus my colleague strongly discourage me from using TCM becos she had a baby nephew went for tui-na and ended up with an injured neck!! :!:

but i agree with u that i dun think the western medicine is good for my dd who is 3 plus. so far, the dhatifen has bad side-effects like tearing and drowsiness. the cough has reduced but when she coughs, the sound is deep, meaning the lungs does not seem to have improved. so far the lung infected cough is abt one week cos the light cough only worsened last week. hopefully after this round of medicine wil be ok, otherwise wil have to go back to pd and spend $$$ again. sigh...

let me know where is the TCM and which doctor? thanks :)

Yes, foreverj, you are absolutely right to have be more cautious abt TCM. There are a lot of TCM clinics around singapore. Not easy to choose a reliable one.

Anyway, I have chosen this TCM hospital for my boy. Mainly because it is a proper organized TCM hospital. I believe the management there will not anyhow employ those unqualified chinese physicians there. And there are few chidren specialists there. So I think it is much much better for my boy to be treated by someone who specialize in children illness.

Regarding the medicine used by TCM... I don't have much comments as I am not from medical line. To me, even though I knew the prescriptions using by PD and the specialist in KKH, but I have no choice. Can I juz throw away their medicine as I knew its sure will have side effect on my boy's short term and long term health? No, I can't bcoz I have no choice. They are the expertists in this line. Who else can I trust if not them?

In fact and to be fair to those specialists or PD, they actually tried their best to help our children to get well in a fast and effective way. But to me, the problem was why my boy kept repeating this asthmatic cough. Took those 'harmful' medicine for almost 2 yrs on and off....

The big diff to use TCM service is my boy no longer has asthmatic cough now! Only normal cough. He recovered very fast in 2 to 4 days only whenever he falls sick occationally. We also save lots $ compared to those days under PD consultation. Wow... can't believe how much have we spent during those 2 yrs. Each visit to PD will cost $300+! Then got follow up fee. And also the consultation + medicine fee every 3 mths when we visited lung specialist in KKH... :!:

So I like this 中华医院 coz the medical service there is good and cheap.. Less than $10 per visit for 1 week medicine... (chief, I am not trying to advertise la... ).

Juz share my opinion here.

Apart from cold drinks, sweet stuff, do you continue with cow's milk?

Recently I brou my younger boy to a centre doing bioresonance therapy (package treatment $300/- for assessment and 3 treatments). After the assessment, the therapist told me my boy is allergic to wheat, corn, gluten, beef, sugar, dust, cow's milk, nitrates in cured meat, etc

We then eliminated cow's milk, wheat, gluten from his diet and replaced these with powdered brown rice and rice crispy/crackers made with rice.
It seems to help with removing the cough.

We went to Sentosa Siloso yesterday. He played in the pool for an hour, next thing I heard was the cough again. Cant detect the phlegm, am unsure if it is nasal prob.

He was with another TCM physician doing tuina since Jan to May. Everyone compliment him for a loud voice. So shouldn't be lung weak? He does not get breathless after a run either.

The moment we reached home, I gave him a dose of the Ma Kuang TCM. Now did not hear him cough.

We have been seeing this Ma Kuang physician like fortnightly becos his cough comes and goes. Like never ending.

The bioresonance therapy last session is this week. Hubby and elder son have expressed their doubts about this type of treatment.

So, should I stop Ma Kuang and this therapy and go to
中华医院?

Very headache.

Anyone tried the TCM inside SGH itself? I heard that they combine both western & chinese medicine if you are keen for best effect :) Saw long queues there when I brought my cousin in for a suspected hairline crack in his shin this morning.

GreenQ wrote: The above symptoms or story used to repeat almost every mth! :stupid: Whenever he was unwell starting with sneezing, I knew my night mare came! He used to cough through out whole night. Only fell to sleep in peace at abt 4 or 5am! Kept on coughing non stop for few minutes. Stopped awhile. Then cough again.... The cough can only be stopped by using the nebulizer medication 3 hourly. But sometimes it doesn't work! His cough only reduced gradually after taking the medicine for at least 2 days. :scared: Really helpless...

Share my boy's story is to let others know that he has been sufferred fr asthmatic cough for yrs. And been using asthmatic medicine fr specialist in KKH for more than 1 yr, and medicine fr PD for abt 2 yrs on and off. But now he is TOTALLY recovered well through TCM. So I think its worth to try TCM for asthmatic cough...

Cheers...
Thanks for sharing your youngest boy's story. Good that now your night mare has overed... :)

Hi Jennifer,
I never stopped cow's milk for my boy. Not sure whether this could be a reason for his bad cough in years back...

Wow... that's quite a long list of allergic items. That's not easy to avoid food containing sugar. And dust is everywhr. Does your boy always has bad cough? Or juz mild cough whenever he has cough? Fr your info here, I think your boy is doing quite ok.

My boy never showed shortness of breath after a run. He juz easily fell sick with asthmatic cough. I have requested him to see lung specialist in KKH bcoz he always caught bad cough almost every mth in yrs back.

I think your boy shouldn't be lung weak. May be he just has allergy cough. And what is that dose of Ma Kuang TCM? Is it a standby medicine? Sorry... I juz curious.

My boy never treated by Ma Kuang before. So no comments about their service. How long has your boy been visited Ma Kuang? Any improvement? I think if after a long period say 6 to 9 mths you still unable to see improvement, then may be you can try 中华医院. If you can see the improvement, then better stick to the same physician.

JMHO... Cheers... :)

GreenQ,

He catches common colds/cough very easily. Like someone in the family is sick, soon it would be his turn  And the condition develops very quickly into massive amt of mucus or chesty cough. It would take him at least two weeks to recover, only to be sick again in the 3rd week. :stupid:

Sugar avoidance is very difficult, so the guideline is less than 10 gm per serving. Luckily we are not into sweet stuff, so he does not feel too deprived

The medicine from Ma Kuang is not standby type. I brought him to see the phyician the moment I heard the slight cough. The physician saw reddness in the back of the throat. It's the same prob that comes and goes in these few months. She said my boy's body constitution is very sensitive to changes in weather, hence the recurrence of cough.

We went for the last session of bioresonance therapy this morning, now he has not coughed. We have signed for another 5 treatments @ $300/- The therapy said she would be continuing with the desensitization and to strengthen his immunity system. it works.

If it still does not help stop the recurrence of cough, I am definitely going to try the one you recommend.
