Good morning & thank you! I went to google for the information last night & saw this too. I hope the next election wont affect my GRC
ST published a commentary guessing when the election would take place. Their guess is late this year (Nov/Dec) or early next year (Mar/Apr).
Remember to check, usually due to election, the constituency will have some changes.. thus those primary school within the constituency will be affected too. If you going via GRL route, need to ensure yr letter can be used withing the same constituency.

Dear parents,
We are planning to move to Serangoon North soon and our son is due for P1 registration next year Jul 11. Nearest school is Rosyth (only 300 m away), but we know that balloting is required for <1km.
We are also late for the PV registration already. The only hope now is to become an active community leader, within the Ang Mo Kio GRC.
We currently live in this area, and hence, should not be a problem to register and be active in the committee.
However, is it true that we have to be an active Executive Member for at least one year before we qualify under Phase 2B? Is it too late to start enrolling now? Is an Observer position counted as 'Active Community Leader' as defined by MOE?
Can somebody help us? If this is too late, I guess the ONLY way is through phase 2C...
I do believe that you are too late to go grassroots leader path too. But there is no harm to speak with the chairperson and understand the possibility. Hope is not high though.

Observer does not account to active Community Leader.
It is not too late to become an Executive Member. Normally it takes about 6 months or so.

I just heard from a parent whose son is my son nursery classmate that the quota for GRL and PV are separate. That is to say if for example there are 50 slots for Phase 2B, 25 is for PV and 25 is from GRL. Which means a PV would not be able to take a GRL slot.
Is this true?
Tks
