Hi, any mummies have encounter kids with G6PD?

My son is diagnosed to have G6PD deficiency at birth. What precautions should i take besides keeping him away from moth balls, pearl powder and Jing ying Hua?

Are childcare teachers trained to care for such kids?

My bro is having G6PD deficiency. A lot of food he cannot eat when he was young but I can't remember. I think a lot of TCM also cannot take.
Do take care.

See http://g6pddeficiency.org/index.php?cmd=contrafood for list of food to avoid.

When the hospital told you of your son's G6PD condition, didn't they give you a list stating what food/thing to avoid?

Anyway... my nephews (17 & 15 yrs old) + my son (5 yrs old) are G6PD. So far so good leh. Drank some chinese tonic soups (eg Ba Zhen, Si Shen Tang) and still fine. Ate a variety of beans & legumes (but NEVER broad bean), also ok. Key thing is eat in moderation.

Then again, different people have different reaction to same food, though same with G6PD. So, you'll just need to observe. As time passed, I'm also like swimironkids... forgot that son is G6PD.
