hi

with the recent change of rules effecting this year, and that past years’ statistics do not identify number of PR and citizen, there is no basis at the moment to offer any kind of projection of your chances.

chances for PR 2013

Hi,

I intent to enrol my daughter in MGS but with recent rule for P1 registration process what are the chances of getting the seat. We are SPR and prior to registration process intend to move closer to MGS.

Does any one can reply.

PV at MGPS

Hi

I read in the forum that MGPS does not take in PVs.  Does it still hold true?  Has the school since changed its stance on PV program?

Any updated information would be most appreciated!

MGS

Hi,

Besides the address on IC to prove that you stay within a km from the school, i hear that there is a need to prove that you have resided at the I/C listed address for a minimum of one year, and it musn’t be a rental unit.

We haven’t been successful in buying an apt within a km from the school, that we like and can afford of course.  We are thinking of renting a unit while we continue our search to buy.

Does anyone know about these other "conditions"?   And where/how we can verify for sure?

Thank you.

I had called to ask, the admin actually say they dun accept PV but if u have a pastor to write a recommendation letter then u can get in that school. Must be from a Methodist church.

Phase 1 2 etc

Hi
I have not lived in Singapore for almost 20 years so please pardon my ignorance.

I used to go to Anglo Chinese Juniour College almost 20 years ago. What are the chances of my daughter getting into MGPS? Affiliated schools still right? What phase will I be in?

Thanks!

MGS

Hi

Thanks for you info.  I will check out at I can read.

Does anyone know the strength of MGS? Wat CCA should i send my gal to? May i check how is the pri sch system like now? my time was express or normal stream…oh..just reveal my age …haha

MGS

Yup..a friend of mine did her research with one of the PVs..and she told her to email to the Vice Principal instead. I think only old girls qualify to be PVs..it is so hard to get in even if u r living within 1km..and btw, they only have like 6 or 7 P1 classes. >8/ Why dun u try SCGS?

mgs

hi there,

MGS is sure a popular school. My hubby went down to the school with the intention of finding out the possibility of getting into the school…..  sad to say that they do not accept PVs! So, parents whom wants to join the school as PVs can forget about it

MGS

MGS is one of the top schools in Singapore.  Vacancies are hotly contested as evident from here.  If you are not already a PV and live more than 1km from MGS you are on shaky ground since you will be lucky just to qualify for balloting if you are less than 2km in Phase 2C.  If you are more than 2km away, don’t even bother to try for MGS in Phase 2C.  You will not get in.

As for recommendations for phonics class, there are a number of forum threads regarding this very topic.  Here’s one.

1) MGS & 2) phonics class

1) I would like to send my girl to MGS. Anyone can advise me on the standard of this school?

any good or bad comment on this school?

2) I would like to send my girl for phonic sclass, any recommendation?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the input. What

Thanks for the input. What about the ease of withdrawing from one school and registering in another one. I have heard of friends doing it but it seem cumbersome; you seem to be at the mercy of the clerk entering into the system to withdraw cause as long as you don’t withdraw, you cannot re-register.

Also, any idea what is the balloting like? How many empty spaces for how many ballotees?

MGS

MGS did require balloting in Phase 2B in the last 2 years and from the take up rate in Phase 1 so far, it looks likely that it will also require balloting once again from Phase 2B.  The question is whether the balloting is going to be open to you in Phase 2B, ie. for >2km.  It is very difficult to tell from the past 2 years data at this early stage of the registration process.

It is a risk you will have to consider very carefully.  My advice is for you to call up MGS and find out from them what your chances are in Phase 2B.  They will definitely have a good idea what the demand is for Phase 2B, given the number of applicants so far.

St Margaret’s is likely to enter into a >2km balloting situation for Phase 2C, extrapolating from the past 2 years’ history.

MGS

Hi, I am in a dillema.

I am able to register for MGS under Phase 2B but don’t live within 2km. Understand that in 2006, there was balloting for those staying more than 2km. What are the chances? (like 20 vying for 2 seats?)

I can also register under Phase 2A2 for another school. Confirm can enter; considering how easy it is to pull out of the school and register under Phase 2B for MGS. Anyone ever done this? How quickly can this be done? Easy?

Lastly, if all else fails, may consider St Marg. Is it a good school? Also, what are the chances of balloting in Phase 2C for the school?
