Chances for a PR within 1K at SCGS

Hi, wondering your advice on my chances at SCGS this year. Daughter will be in P1 2011. Will be PR and can move to within 1K in July. I can see the stats are still against me, but interested in any advice to improve my odds or if I should just forget about it. Thanks.

SCGS

Hi there,

I'm not sure on the ranking of primary schools.

I would like to get my kid into SCGS and am considering seriously of buying an apt within 1km now. I was told that it does not still guarantee a place even in 2C within 1km?

BTW, if she cant get into SCGS, then what happens? There is no schools nearby???

Enrichment activities/CCA

Hi Daddygirl, you can access the school website for the enrichment activities/CCA. (It is just too many.) They also change their activities every year. For info, SCGPs is good at dance. These enrichment activities are normally conducted in the afternoon and are at a cheaper rate. Other activities include pottery, inline skating, bowling, synchronised swimming, archery, journalism...... depending on levels, are conducted during the school curriculum after SA exams. Some CCA require practice 2  times/afternoons per week. . Exposure of your child will definitely be different from the neighbourhood schools.

Transport @SCGPS

Hi Courage,

Is it a lot of courses/CCA after school hours for SCGPS? Could you share more about it?

Admission Test

Thank you Courage.

How long did you get the call after the interview? I read their website and it was stated as 2 weeks but that was meant for those who are unsuccessful will be getting letter notification after 2 weeks.

Thank you once again :)

Admission Test

Hi,

First of all, you will get a letter from the school stating the date of the test. The test will normally takes place before SA 1 or SA 2 exams, on Saturday/school holiday(e.g. PSLE marking day). If your daughter is selected, your daughter will get a call from the school for an interview after about 2 weeks later. If  your daughter is accepted after the interview, she will have to attend the orientation before the start of the school mid-term or year end holidays. The school will issue the book list and lists of things to prepare during the orientation. The school will do all the necessay process of transfer. You only have to submit the school report book to SCGPS. One important thing to bear in mind is that all the younger sibling must also go through the same process of test for transfer, unless the entry is fresh from P1.

If transport is not a problem for enrichment courses/CCA after school hours,  it is a good try for SCGPS. My youngest one is attending P1 next year.

SCGS vs Primary School at Woodlands

Dear all,

My girl will be registering for P1 this year. We stay at Woodlands with my mum, next to Si Ling Primary School. However, we could also register at SCGS, as our IC address is near there. After considering of the distance, we really wanted to have your opinion whether we should let the kid to try on SCGS, or stay at Si Ling?

Can you advise?
