2023 P1 Registration – Phase 1 Results
Submitted by Chief Kiasu
MOE just release the Phase 1 results. It’s rather silly as they only posted the places available for Phase 2A and not the actual take up rate of Phase 1, but anyhow, we computed the results and in the following table, we show the take up rate of Phase 1 in 2023 and 2022 for comparison.
The schools which are highlighted in RED are schools which actually increased their in-take this year versus 2022. Angsana Primary school has the highest increase over last year, adding 1 extra class of students or 30 places. This school did ballot at over 200% last year in Phase 2C, so I think things might get even more tense this year.
Amongst the schools which had a decrease in Phase 1 take up, the largest decrease is Xingnan Primary school with 38 less places than last year. This Jurong West primary school had only 70% take-up rate by the end of Phase 2C(S) last year and it seems like it might get even lower take-up this year.
Amongst the so-called “elite schools”:
CHIJ St Nicholas’ Girls increased by 10 places
Nangyang Primary increased by 7 places
Nanhua Primary increased by 12 places
Kong Hwa increased by 11 places
Rulang increased by 2 places
Tao Nan increased by 19(!!) places
Gongshang Primary increased by 23(!!!) places
All these schools did not change the cohort size except for Gongshang Primary which had its cohort increased by 10. So, those that are targeting these schools should get themselves prepared for a tough Primary School registration process. Better still, start looking at other schools.
