Phase 2A has been completed and congratulations to all those who managed to get places in Primary 1 for their loved ones.  Phase 2B is starting on Monday 22 July and registration will end on 23 July.  This is for parents who have spent at least 40 hours volunteering for the school by 30 June this year.  Keep in mind that the registration date for PVs was 1 July, so it is too late for parents hoping to PV for kids in next year’s Registration.

In any case, we have included the table showing the places available for each school in this phase, along with the number of parents that registered last year in 2023.  This should be the projected view of the oncoming Phase 2B, although the actual situation might be slightly different.

Just a quick recap of columns in the table.  The “APP” column will show the percentage of seats taken up in that stage, and anything above 100% will indicate that a ballot situation is likely, although there could be cases of a cutoff stage with no balloting if the number of applicants at a certain stage just meets the available vacancies.

The “TUR” column or Take-Up Rate show the percentage of vacancies already taken up by parents in earlier Phases.  This number can never be more than 100%, and when it is 100%, it means the school is full and will not participate in subsequent phases.

The next 2 columns is the actual number of parents taking up places in the school for Phase 2B.

We have added a new column called “2024 Places” which show the number of places available in the school for Phase 2B this year.  If we compare this with the number of applicants in 2023, we can see the schools which are at most risk to be in a ballot situation this year.  These are highlighted in beige.  Amongst these, the highest is Nan Chiau Primary which would have 123 people bidding for 44 places.  Hopefully, this year’s number would be lesser.

Good luck to those going for Phase 2B!
