Going to school for the first time, making new friends and juggling playtime with schoolwork are just some of the things that children face these days. Want to know if your child is able to cope with these challenges? You can now take a simple quiz to find out.
Developed by the Health Promotion Board (HPB), Colours of the Mind is a tool that helps parents gain insights on their child’s mental wellbeing. The questions in the quiz were formulated based on a research study that involved 1000 Singaporean children and 100 parents, teachers and counselors.
This simple and fun quiz can be taken by the parent together with a 6 to 12-year-old child or on the child’s behalf. At the end of the quiz, parents will get an overview of the child’s strengths in three basic domains – positive functioning, social intelligence and emotional intelligence, and receive useful tips on how to improve on each of these domains. Furthermore, a parents’ guide is also available for download, which suggests a variety of activities that parents can do with their children.
By helping your child make positive changes, he will grow up to be confident, happy, and well poised to reach his full potential.
