the mashed lady’s fingers is like a warm salad. aim is to taste the gooeyness. if gooeyness is not your thing, then this recipe will not be suitable. sometimes i’ll stir fry lady’s fingers with sambal belacan for different style, but this mashed up version with belacan is my dd’s favourite.
lady’s fingers, about 18pcs. washed. medium sized prawns. 6pcs. peeled, leave head intact for maximum juice. put onto shallow plate. steam together for about 8mins. cut up lady’s fingers into smaller pieces for easy pounding. lightly pound till mashed up. prawns, remove head shell. juices of prawn to be retained. combine pounded lady’s fingers, prawns, juices and all, with 1tsp of belacan chilli. done.
