Our Island of Fun and Play!

If you are still wondering how you can keep your kids out of your hair this upcoming June holidays, just bring them to Sentosa.  There are loads of free activities for children, allowing them to have oodles of fun through live, play-acted story-telling adventures, puppetry, musicals, and even ukulele workshops!  What’s more, you get to bond with your kids through the fun and play.

Playmobil fans rejoice!  Many of the activities are Playmobil-themed.  Kids will be mesmerised when they see their favorite character comes alive!

There are three different stories presented this season.  In Hansel and Gretel, the kids find themselves trapped in a cottage covered with Playmobil figurines, and have to find a way to escape the Ogre or face the unpleasant prospect of ending up being toys themselves!  In The Dragon Prince, a prince was turned into a dragon by his evil brother.  Find out if the prince was able to break the curse and return to his kingdom.  And, for the ultimate action-packed and non-stop adventure, join Andy and the Magic Compass as they travel to fantastic places and encounter many exciting challenges.  With such intriguing stories, your kids will be probably be begging you to let them attend all three story sessions, so make yourself comfortable and be prepared to stay for quite a while!

If you liked the plays, don’t miss the The Puppet Master Musical!  Enjoy the cute puppet-like movements and antics of the Puppet Master and his assistant as they try to help the ailing Puppet Fairy regain her sparkle and come back to life, in a most captivating medley of catchy songs, music, and dance.

For those who love the ancient traditional Chinese art of “bian lian” (变脸) or “face-changing”, make sure you attend Tok Tok Chiang by Nick Shen!  Our local celebrity has mastered the highly secretive and very difficult techniques of the art.  He will amaze you with his dexterity and pure talent, as he carries out his fascinating performance with flair and pomp!

You can also chill and enjoy the Dance Musical by Tanglin Arts Studio.  Bring your kids to watch the talented students of the studio as they express themselves through their elegant dance movements.  Who knows, this might even inspire your little ones to unlock their hidden talents!

For more hands-on activities, get your family to participate in the Ukulele Workshop & Dance Performance.  The ukulele is a tiny guitar with 4 strings, perfect for your child’s hands and fingers.  You get to learn the basics of playing the Ukulele, even as you sit entranced by the instructors dancing in rhythm to the pulsating music of their ukuleles!

Besides the events, there are plenty of attractions to go to.  Fulfil your child’s fantasy of not simply playing with his PlayMobil sets, but actually living it!  Let him enter and play in the larger-than-life Playmobil Western House, which has been specially imported from Germany.

At the Playmobil Playpit and Toy Shop, your kids will be thrilled to be amongst the first get to play with the latest Playmobil series yet to be launched in Singapore.  Your little ones will probably be clamouring for you to buy them, but you can take comfort knowing that many of these are available at promotional prices.

To exercise those little hands and minds, sign your kids up for interesting art and craft sessions.  Transform simple materials into button badges, aprons or even storybooks!  At a cost of only S$10 per activity, you can join your kids in these activities and help them along.  It’s a wonderful way of bonding with them.

Sentosa is offering several promotions across the island for the June holidays.  If your kid is game for some thrills and spills, the Port of Lost Wonder offers pure wet fun!  While entry fees apply for kids, parents get to enter free of charge if they can get their kids to hug them!  For parents, that’s priceless!
