Singapore University Open House 2026

In 2026, the GCE A-Level results will be released in late February. Do check the MOE website for updates on Results Day.

Some teens have told us that they worry about not being able to get into the "Big 3 universities,” namely NUS, NTU, and SMU.

If you or your teens are:

  • Unsure whether NUS, NTU, or SMU are the only “safe” options
  • Worried the “wrong” choice could reduce options in life
  • Not sure how JC vs polytechnic really affects university outcomes
  • Struggling to talk about university decisions without stress or self-doubt

We invite you to join us at our KiasuParents Huddle, to hear from others about different (and equally fulfilling) university pathways.

What to Do After the A-Levels in 2026?

From speaking to teens in our network, we understand that these are some of their top concerns:

ConcernDiscussion points for the family
“Going to a local autonomous university is the only acceptable pathway after the A-Levels.”There are many pathways to consider, including going to a polytechnic or arts institution.

What can you find out online?
“I must try to get into NUS or NTU, because they are highly ranked (Top 50), according to the QS and Times Higher Education rankings.”How are these rankings calculated?

Do you think the factors that make up the rankings are very important? Are these the only factors that should be considered?

Example: There is another well-known rankings system known as the Shanghai Ranking, where Singapore universities are not in the Top 50. Why do Singapore universities fare worse in this ranking system? Do those factors matter?
“Only the “Big 3” universities in Singapore are considered credible: NUS, NTU, and SMU.”Are these universities really the best in Singapore? What does “best” mean?

Have you heard stories from teens studying in other universities?

How can you find out more?
“Studying abroad is always more expensive than studying locally.”The fees for overseas universities can be comparable to local institutions, and there are scholarships to try for, even for those without straight As. How can you find out more?

Some experiences are worth the extra expense. What do you think are some worthwhile gains, even if you have to pay more?
“Australia, the UK and the US are the most viable overseas study locations for Singaporean students.”Recent trends have seen more students exploring options in countries like the Netherlands and Japan.
“Taking a gap year is a waste of time.”Do you know anyone in Singapore who has taken a gap year? How can you reach out to them, to learn more about their experiences?

We encourage you to discuss these issues with your teen. However, let them do their own research, and draw their own conclusions.

2026 Open House Dates for Singapore’s 6 Autonomous Universities

Has your teen decided that they would like to study in Singapore?

Teens can use a point calculator to estimate their chances of getting into Singapore’s “Big 3” universities.

They should also refer to each university’s Indicative Grade Profile, to see the calibre of students accepted in the previous year. This helps them to gauge what they can qualify for.

Here are the Singapore university open house dates for 2026:

Encourage your teen to attend these events, so they can chat with educators and existing students. Here are some questions to ask:

  • How did you decide on this course? What factors were most important?
  • For students at the 10th percentile, how did they strengthen their application?
  • What does it take to do well in this course?
  • What are the internship and exchange opportunities here?
  • Which are your favourite classes, and why?
  • Which are the toughest classes, and why?
  • How many internships do you plan to do? How are you getting these opportunities?
  • Do you have a support network here?
  • Do you feel a sense of pride and belonging?
  • Are you staying at the student hostel? Do you like it?

Application Deadlines for Singapore Universities in 2026

Tracking course information should be your teen’s responsibility. If they need help, you can suggest that they use a free tool like Google Sheets to list the courses that they’re interested in.

Within their tracking document, they can have fields such as:

  • University
  • Course
  • Duration
  • Fees
  • Requirements (subject prerequisites, grades, entrance tests, portfolio)
  • Scholarships & Grants
  • Deadlines
  • Pros (Why this course?)
  • Cons (Why it might not suit me?)

Of the above, the most crucial information would be the application deadline. Below are the general application deadlines for Singapore universities in 2026:
