Haven’t made any plans for the upcoming March holiday? Mark your schedule to visit SmartKids Asia – the region’s  largest educational fair happening at Singapore Expo on 17 to 19 March 2017! At this sixth installation since the event started in 2012, both parents and kids alike can look forward to exciting and enriching activities such as demonstrations, family-centric exhibits and product booths.

Whether you’re looking to bring out your child’s talent, pick up health tips or simply having a little fun, there will be something for everyone at the three-day event. Here’s a sneak peek at what you can look forward to:

1. Especially for Parents

sk_masterclass1Register now for the The Straits Times Parenting Masterclasses – a two-day seminar for parents to learn and discuss parenting tips from experts such as Sha-En Yeo, a positive psychology coach and award-winning author. The News-in-Education specialists from The Straits Times Schools Team will also discuss how news stories are useful resources for imparting character education and English language skills to pupils.

Enjoy 20% off registration fee with PROMO CODE: SKAKP when you buy tickets for any of the Masterclasses here.

2. For story lovers

Be enthralled by theatrical plays and storytelling time as your children’s favourite fairy tales come to life at SmartKids Asia Storyland for the first time. Timeless classics that will be showcased, in partnership with the National Library Board, include Goldilocks & The Three Bears, Little Red Riding Hood and Hansel & Gretel.

In addition, to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the fall of Singapore, The Straits Times Young Storymakers Camp, a two-day camp will make its debut at SmartKids Asia. The camp is built on the idea of bringing young explorers back in time, and into the shoes of a war reporter. Participants within ages 9 to 12 will get to walk through Singapore’s rich history, and learn news reporting techniques from The Straits Times journalists. (Registration is available here.)

3. Hit the stage!

Popular characters from My Little Pony featuring Apple Jack, Twilight Sparkle and Rainbow Dash; and Pororo & Friends featuring Pororo, Krong and Petty will be making special appearances during the FREE Meet & Greet sessions. There will also be other stage segments from various exhibitors encompassing education, the arts and sports. Visit http://www.smartkidsasia.com/ for programme updates.

Does your child have what it takes to become the next SmartKids Asia Talent Time champion? Register here for the new stage segment and let your kid showcase his/her skill or talent in dancing, singing or playing an instrument. The top participants will walk away with prizes worth more than $1,000 in total.

4. For budding artists

If your kid loves dabbling with colours or shines in creativity, there will be two contests at SmartKids Asia that you family should not miss. The SmartKids Asia Art Contest caters to children ages 9 to 12 and the top 10 winners will walk away with retail vouchers from The Dim Sum Place (a new F&B joint by the creators of The Ramen Stall), worth more than $500 and more. Registration is available here. For younger children between 5 to 8 years old, sign them up for the Stabilo Junior Colouring Contest and stand to win prizes worth more than $500 in total.

5. To enrich the mind and foster parent-child bonding

Trial classes from educational and enrichment providers will be available throughout the three event days from 10am to 8pm daily. What’s more, parents can engage in some hands-on fun with your little ones (aged 3 to 7) at the Activity Area, where there will be arts and crafts activities such as puppet-making and cookie-decorating from partners such as Playeum and Spurbox.

6. Take home more goodies!

The first 500 registrants per day will each receive a Goodie Bag worth up to $50. Also, don’t miss the lucky draws happening daily at 7:30pm, where you can stand to win up to $10,000 worth of prizes, including staycations at D’Kranji Farm Resort, family passes to Bounce Singapore and many more with every purchase.

Finally, children of all ages can have a go at spinning the prize wheel upon completion of the Fun Passport by participating in activities from different pit stops held at various booths.
