Student Care Centres in Singapore: Get a List of Centres, and More Tips!

Does your primary school child need after-school care?
Student Care Centres (also known as SCCs) provide before and after-school care services for primary school students. Such centres offer adult supervision, meals, homework support, and even enrichment activities, ideally in a safe and nurturing environment.
This is especially useful when both parents are working, without caregiving support. Read on to find out about the different types of student care centres in Singapore, and how to find the right centre for your child.
Do all Student Care Centres need to register with the Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF)?
It is not mandatory for student care centres to be registered with MSF.
However, if a care centre wishes to offer fee subsidies to students under the Student Care Fee Assistance (SCFA) scheme, they would then need to register with the MSF.
This is because these centres would need to meet a list of minimum requirements stipulated by MSF. They would also be subject to audit checks, to assess their suitability to administer — or continue administering — the SCFA.
How do I look for a student care centre near me?
If you are specifically looking for centres within primary schools — these are known as school-based student care centres. All primary schools should have a school-based SCC, or at least one next to it.
To apply for student care within your child’s primary school, do check with the school after your child has been admitted, to find out about the application procedure.
You can also enquire about student care during the school orientation process.
Do be aware that a school-based student care centre will only take in students from that particular school. In the event that the care centre has no available slots, you can use the directory tool on the MSF’s website to search for nearby centres.

Are there student care centres for special needs students?
Yes, there are special needs student care centres, and you can find a list of these centres on the SG Enable website.
These are known as Special Student Care Centres, and they offer subsidised before- and after-school care services for students with special needs aged seven to 18.
Are there private student care centres that are not under the purview of the MSF? Why choose such centres?
Some parents prioritise factors such as teacher-student ratio, the ambience of the centre, menu offerings, as well as after-school enrichment programmes like coding classes.
For these parents, they may find that private student care centres better fit their requirements.
