PARENT POWER: A Major Ingredient in the Recipe for Educational Success

As Singapore moves towards bilingual education, students not only face challenges in English Language, but also in Chinese, which has not been an easy language for most of the students. Not like English alphabets, Chinese is made up of different characters. Recognition of these words is already a difficult task, knowing the meaning and to apply them are even harder. Then there is also comprehension and composition to master… not to mention the other school subjects to cope with too.

We, Zhou’s Academic Studio (周学院), see that these struggling students are facing tremendous stress. However, through strategies and techniques, we can channel most of these stresses into motivation and passion, and ultimately to help students improve their grades. We can achieve this not just with the help from teachers, but from you – PARENTS!

Educational research has shown that parents who are actively involved in their children’s learning at home help them become more successful learners in and out of school. It is at home that children form their attitudes towards learning. And, it is at home that children get the much-needed head start in learning the English Language and, thereafter, the continued support when they formally begin school.
