2010 P1 Registration Phase 2C
toPhase 2C
- For a child who is ineligible for or unsuccessful in earlier phases.
Announcement of Result:
- By 11 Aug 2009
Update 2nd Aug (Phase 2C Summary):
We’ve provided the Average APP of each school from 2006-2008 which represents the % of applicants over the number of available vacancies for Phase 2C. This should provide parents with some idea of what their chances are, based on historical averages. The standard deviation is provided to indicate the margin of error – assuming a normal distribution, the confidence level that the APP this year will be within 1 Standard Deviation of the Average APP (ie. Average APP ± Standard Deviation) is 68%.
- Schools marked in bold have a history of exceeding their quota.
- Schools marked in RED have exceeded their quota. Either balloting or cut-off will happen, unless there are twins in the accepted distance bucket.
- Schools marked in BLUE did not exceed their quota even though they have historically done so.
- The final results show the following:
- 49% of the schools have APP (88 out of 178) that fell within 1 standard deviation of the average
- 76% of the schools have APP (136 out of 178) that fell within 2 standard deviations of the average.
- 85% of the schools have APP (152 out of 178) that fell within 3 standard deviations of the average.
- We attribute this wide variation to the lack of sample size (we only have 3 years worth of data to rely on). Moving forward, as this year’s results will now constitute part of the historical average, we believe more schools will fall within 1 standard deviation of the historical average.
KiasuParents.com congratulates parents who have already secured a place for their children so far, and wishes the best for all those going for the Phase 2C ballot.

Greenridge pri
Anybody knows greenridge pri status for within 1km???
Re. Please do not go on the last day of Phase 2c
Hi Fenming, I disagree. Everyone should watch the numbers carefully and withdraw on the last day to apply for another school which they "think" they stand a better chance. It will also improve the chances of my kid! Haha 😉

Fairfield or Henry Park?
Hihi,
I think we are staying within the same few blocks which are 1km to both schools…
Although I will be applying only next year, I can definitely feel your stress / pressure.
Mayb you could wait until Fri afternoon before submitting. Cos I m also sure many pple in the neighbourhood are also waiting to see the final figures before submitting, which also means Fairfield may end up with more in the <1km range.
All the best !
Fairfield & Henry Park
Both FMPS & HPPS surface out 1Km balloting. Hopefully if you able to get the breakdown of the distance. Select 1 of them & take part in the balloting game.
Yes if you fail in the balloting you have to take part in Phase 2C . At this phase, most of the school would already full house. Most likely the schools would in Phase 2C supplementary in your case would be like Queenstown, New Town, Qifa, Pei Tong.
Lastly, wish you good luck in Phase 2C.
Single session?
for single session school….wat is the start and end time of school
Fairfield or Henry Park?
I have both school within 1 km to choose : Fairfield Methodist and Henry Park. As up today (29 Jul), approximately 35 seats(<1km) out of 61 seats for Fairfield are applied and approximately 48 seats (<1km) out of 43 seats of Henry Park are applied. I believed the figures would increase over the next 2 days for each school for within <1km seats. I have preference for Henry Park but based on today result I would definitely need to go through the balloting exercise.
What should I do? should i risk away my chance for Fairfield and at the end of the day, I might need to go for the phase 2C supp.

Compassvale Primary
Registered my son at Compassvale Primary today. Around 8.45am the numbers regd were 70, can anyone advise will there be ballotting for children within 1km?
beacon
went to register thismorning….was surprised by the big turnout…think high chance of balloting this year….
Beacon
Preciousjam,
TUR is currently 32% after Phase 2B ie about 163 vacancies left for Phase 2C.
Last year’s 208 vacancies for Phase 2C all goes to those residing <1km (ie The no. of applicants within 1km matches the no. of vacancies). So there is a likely chance that there may be balloting for those staying <1km this year.
More info on past stats here.

Rosyth or Mee Toh
I am staying within 1km from Mee Toh but 2km away from Rosyth. Spouse working nearby Rosyth.Don noe which one to enrol? Looking at the chart on both school make me more worried. Any advice?
maris stella vs SAJS
Hi
I am within 1km from SAJS but within 2km from MS. Number of vacancies for MS is 96 while SAJS has 79. Based on the current and past statistics, appreciate any advice on whether I stand a better chance of registering for MS or SAJS.
Thanks
BPPS
1. you need to register with the school within the allocated days. bring the relevant documents as stated in MOE’s website.
2. what sorts of declaration are you talking about? the only declaration that i know of is the one using Grandparent’s address, which in anycase will be irrelevant for registration in BPPS cos i can safely say that balloting is required for applicants residing <1km from the school.
register to MOE
Hi,
I will be registering my kid for BPPS P1coming under Phase 2C. Do we need to register or make any declaration to MOE before register to school ?

Balloting for Phase 2C
I called MOE this morning. The girl said all schools that have to conduct balloting will do so on the day the results are announced. In Phase 2C’s case, this will be Aug 11. Parents don’t need to be present, but may be good to be there as you will know your result immediately.
Phase 2C
Hi,
May request to increase the allocation of vacacies?
Poi Ching Primary
Poi Ching is a better chance to get in as compare to head heat to heat in St Hilda’s.
Phase 3
Yes Phase 3 is 1st come 1st serve basics.
Phase 3
Hi,
Can anyone tell me if first come first served basis applys to all school?
Thanks alot
Hi Junaidahmoe,Ur question
Hi Junaidahmoe,
Ur question 1 and 2 – Phase 2C go on third day for registration (31/7), then you can know what is the number of applicants infront of you from the 1st and 2nd days applications via KS or MOE website on Third day morning. This way you could judge ur chance better.
question 3 – Yes, the balance from Phase 2b will be added to phase 2C.
Hope the above helps. 🙂
just checking!!
1.) any way to know how many have applied for phase 2C?
2.) let’s say the number of applicant are high for phase 2c for a certain school, is there any way that i can withdraw my application and register for another school. PLs advise on that….
3.) another que, let’s say for phase 2b2 there is no vacancy, then will the number of applicant for phrase 2c increase?
pls answer…
Phase 2C balloting date
Quite likely Aug 11, the announcement date. You can call MOE hotline to confirm,
tel: 6872 2220
When is the ballot date for phase 2C
Will the sschool tell me when is the balloting date as I need to take leave?
New Town Primary
New Town would be a better choice as compare with Queenstown Primary.
NTPS just shifted to new location on Jan 09 this year.
Queenstown or New Town Primary.
Hi,
As Queenstown and New Town Primary are in single session. Wonder which one is better. Tks.
chose between poi ching and St Hilda's PS
My girl is going primary on in 2011. we are staying within 1km for both poi ching and st hilda’s. I know St hilda’s is difficult to get in in 2c. Even get to be PV is also difficult. Thinking just try poi ching. Is poi ching a good school? seems the PSLE result is not that great. Anyone can comment on this?
Hi pvlakshmi, Please check

Phase 2C
Can some let me know that in a Primary School if there was balloting last year will there be balloting this year also.
No, 3334
Hi 3334, nope you’re not allowed to register in 2 schools under the same Phase.
Check out the P1 registration threads. You will find all you need to know there.
Phase 2C
Hi, can I register 2 school at same time in Phase 2C? Tks.
please do not go on the last day of Phase 2C
It can be very frustrating when you realise that some apply on the last day.Just to make the number burst out of the available places. It is no use to see whether the number is high on the 2nd day.If you are within 1km of the school,go for it by 2nd day.Because u will not know whether there are more ppl from the less than 1km range or from the 1km to 2Km range.
As for those who lives within 1km to 2km range, if you wan to go for the good sch near your house, just go for it.no point to see whether the number is more than available places.
Somemore we all still have to wait unil 11 Aug before we can know.it will be best if we know by the end of the phase.Yeah!
Chong Zheng Pri in Tampines
Hi,
My girl is under phase 2C, I would like to send him to ChongZheng in Tampines. But I’ve only seen the school from outside and would like to go in to see the facilities. I wonder if I can just go and take a look during the phase 2B registration period? Or the security is so strict that only those under phase 2B are allowed to go in?
Any comments for Yumin and East Spring?
Thanks for any advise given!
Hi, this is my first time
Hi, this is my first time to write in Kiasu forum (sorry for the poor grammer). Can someone give me more information on Pei Chun and CHIJ Toa Payoh which is better?
Primary schools in Tampines (registering for P1 yr 2010)
I will be registering my son for P1 coming under Phase 2C. We intend to send him to East Spring Primary School, the school is getting more and more popular now, was afraid need to do balloting even though staying stone-throw away from the school.
Am thinking of backup plan now… poi ching and st hilda are outside 2km… Anyone can provide info for these schools?
1. Yumin
2. ChongZheng
3. Tampines Pri
4. Pasir Ris Pri
Pls advice. Appreciate
You can go on the last day
for all Phases except for Phase 3. Only Phase 3 is first come first served.
Should I go on the last day?
Is this phase on a first come first serve basis? As I am thinking on the last day I will be to gauge the need of balloting within 1 km. Then I go register my 2nd choice if the chance is low. Pls advice. Thanks.
