Re: How to motivate your child to read independently?

Make reading a fun activity. Read with different characters' voices and not in a monotone. Be aware of your child's level of understanding and adapt the text so that your child can easily grasp the meaning. Do not read word for word. Sometimes our kids may want to flip from back to front, or start i...

Consultation charges for assessment of Sensory Processing Disorder

Hi, my wife is bringing our son for an assessment at a private clinic as he seems to have symptoms of SPD. The clinic she called charges $380 for a one-hour consultation. The costs will go up if the consultation runs over one hour, and if our son has to take additional tests. Would anyone be able to...

Re: Teachers to pay for parking at schools from Aug 1

I do not think the costs are claimable but this is only my experience. I'm not sure if teachers from other schools have successfully claimed for taxi fare.

Re: Teachers to pay for parking at schools from Aug 1

Teachers, and I think other public servants in Singapore, are paid fairly. I don't have any complaints about that. A transport allowance is good to have but not a must have. We do travel for work sometimes. Not just for staff improvement courses, but also for workshops where we are participating as ...

Re: Teachers to pay for parking at schools from Aug 1

... There are some private companies who offer transport claims for office-related events at other locations. When I have to rush for seminars and workshops in other schools and the timing is such that none of my colleagues can offer me a lift, I pay for my own taxi fare even though it's a "work tr...

There's a new MapleBear in Serangoon. I haven't been there but it's another option for parents in the Northeast.

Re: Teachers to pay for parking at schools from Aug 1

I am a school teacher. I don't drive but I take a car (Uber, Grab or taxi) every morning so that I can get to school early to settle some work before the classes begin. The annual parking fee that was announced is around $700 a year, I believe. I can understand why so many teachers are unhappy and e...

Re: Preparing For O-Levels

Thanks all for the advise! Yes, it is abit worrying as i thought it might be too early to stress her. I saw alot of headstart programmes from learning centers. I should perhaps start sourcing around. She is a little weak in her English... any recommendation? At this juncture, it would be appropriat...

Re: Improving O levels English to A1

Hi everyone, im hoping to get admitted to RJC after my Os next year and so far I have A1s for everything except for English, and my current combination is triple science. I know the very basic for someone like me without HMT to even have a chance for RJC is to get 8 A1s. I'm rather struggling with ...
