Re: ME TIME!

What is a reasonable amount/% to ask from kids? Have told kids that they will need to take back their insurance premiums and mobile phone bills once they start working. For out-patient medical coverage, their coverage under parents' employment will lapse once they are X age or when they start worki...

Re: ME TIME!

For my girls I don’t really teach them to scrimp and save. I told them to think about how to work towards attaining that goal. If they want xxx bag then think about how they are able to afford it. My girl also asked me about having her own car I then ask her to think about how she’s gonna finance t...

Re: ME TIME!

Seriously speaking, I think having kids to give a monthly allowance is good. It is enforced savings for the kids, as we are unlikely to really need the money and they will get it back when we moved on through inheritance. Maybe put the money in a shared account with them so they can see it growing....

Re: ME TIME!

Yes, i told her when i started working, i gave my mum a monthly allowance. Now she has started working, she has to do the same. She agreed and set up a GIRO so that a small sum of $$ will go into my designated bank a/c each month. She has another "perk"; her dad would send and pick her up from work...

Re: ME TIME!

Yesterday, a young chap told me that he would be heading London to study soon. I wished him all the best. I really envy him. How I wish I were still young... When I was young, I had plenty of time but little money. Now I have accumulated some but am nearer to the other end of my runway. dd complain...

Re: Recommendation of one pot for all

You must have a very big kettle! Or do you boil on the stove? I've never timed my electric kettle (1.5L, 1800W), but I estimate that 1.5L of tap water will boil in under 5 mins. And if you need less water, then it will boil even faster. Again, I've never actually tried doing both side by side to co...

Re: Recommendation of one pot for all

When I have a couple of things that need boiling water in sequence, what I do to speed things up is to boil water in the kettle while the first thing is cooking or whatever, then use the hot water from the kettle - it will come to boil very quickly. One kettle of water takes 20 mins to boil? Like v...

Re: Learning Dialect

This whole episode is like 有名无实,虚有其表. I don’t know of any younger generation parents who speak dialect to their toddlers today. Make me wonder whether those parents who complain to ICA, are they just simply worried that P1 registration under phase 2B will be removed for them? Flip flopping on a simp...

Re: Learning Dialect

If the govt has decided w.e.f 29th May 2022 to remove the dialect groups from birth certificate then perhaps it should also remove the privilege for certain dialect groups to enjoy priority in P1 registration under phase 2B for children born in year 2022 onwards Otherwise, on the one hand remove tra...

Re: Recommendation of one pot for all

I meant stir fry first then use for steaming. Then, I realised the meal preparation will be longer. Because we have to wait for steaming for another 15 minutes. That's a good idea the steaming is done along with rice cooking. Last time when I got helper I didn't pay attention to this and bought a m...
