The student had read the time on the left clock wrongly. It should be 2 pm not 12.10 pm.

From 2 pm to 3.15 pm the long hand moved 1 and 1/4 circles.
So altogether there are 5 right angles.

Thank you for your time. 1) Mr Lim spent \$1496 on some comics and dictionaries altogether. The number of comics bought to the number of dictionaries bought was in the ratio of 3 : 2.
