Re: All About Running/Jogging/Marathons/Triathlons

Hi All, my 8 year old is really interested in track and field. Seems like there are only a few avenues for him since his school don't offer it as a CCA. Anyone have any recommendations? Thanks Hi, my son was like yours. When the time came for him to choose a CCA, he wanted to "learn how to run", bu...

Re: Hougang 苏老师学堂 - Discussion

Hi we moved to Hougang in Jan this year and I'm looking for chinese tuition for my P2 boy. He has been attending Steven Tuition Centre at Hougang central and at first I found it good as the teacher was good. Then suddenly they changed teacher without informing us. The principal also seems to think i...

Male Chinese Tutor for mischievous P1 boy

Hi, Any parents out there can recommend a good male Chinese tutor or tutor (male or female) who is strict and can handle mischievous P1 boy? Looking for a tutor for my son urgently as his current teacher is too lenient with him and he takes advantage of her kindness. Need someone more "fierce". Help...

June Holiday 2014 Programmes for English/Creative Writing

Hi All,

my son started P1 this year and I've noticed he's rather weak in writing e.g. forming a story with proper sentence structure. Any parents out there know of any June Holiday programmes which can help him have fun while improving his writing skills?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Coping with Primary 1

Yes, we have not been doing any additional work at home since he started p1 and I'm glad the school has also not given any homework thus far. We've also piled on the praise and encouragement but he seems to dislike his Chinese lessons. I've bought Chinese storybooks with interesting tales too to rea...

Re: Coping with Primary 1

My son just started P1 this year - so far he's been ok, but he mentioned that he cried during Chinese lesson. He says the lesson is very long and he doesn't like it, compared to his kindy Chinese lesson which is comparatively shorter. This "dislike" has caused him to misbehave during his Chinese tui...

Re: WHAT IS HIGHER CHINESE?

I'm not sure if he has a flair for Chinese yet. But I do plan to send him for enrichment and get a tutor at home. If he opts out of HC at P5 will he be able to get into the affiliated sec school? I've heard if he opts out he may not be able to get in.

WHAT IS HIGHER CHINESE?

I'm contemplating on putting my son in a SAP school when he starts P1 next year. But the Higher Chinese part is the only thing holding me back. Then it struck me that I do not actually know what it entails and whether my son could cope, coming from a largely English speaking family. Any parents out ...

Re: [Hougang] Primary Schools

Hmmm...yes I know HIPS is a better choice but whether he can cope is another question. Any ideas of how the kids are like at HIPS? Behaviour wise?

Anyone familiar with Monfort Junior?

Re: [Hougang] Primary Schools

Hi,

regarding my chances, for HIPS, I register at 2B as I'm Catholic. And also stand a chance at 2C for distance within 1km. For St Gabriel, 2B. So I guess that means I stand a better chance a HIPS. Although I've heard that its quite a good chance that I can get in at 2B for St Gabs. Such a dilemma!
