Re: Triple Sciences

It is so nice to hear the real story of improvements on the actual exam! Thanks phtthp & zealmom. I think there are several things to bear in mind - some schools do set their internal standards higher than the public exams, either to "frighten" the kids into working harder, or to stretch the kids m...

Re: Triple Sciences

It may not have been much harder during your kids’ time, but I’m looking at the Sec 1 subjects now and (while the content is the basically the same as our era) the exam qns have shifted towards more inferential-type questions. After seeing them, I realized why the differentiator PSLE qns have also ...

Re: Triple Sciences

Thanks zac's mom for sharing. We were fm triple Sci then I branched out to non Science course while dh continues with his Sci course..but he has been on mgt side after the initial working years. In a way also not using it. I understand that the H2 Sci now is no joke so really worry for kiddo. But t...

Re: Triple Sciences

Parents, do you think it will be detrimental (or any implications) having 1 Pure Sci with terrible grade on the O lvl cert ie the student register for both Pure later decided to focus on 1 Pure only. So that can buy time/try first instead of choose to register for 1 Pure now and drop the other now?...

Re: Triple Sciences

I think Math is compulsory with either Physics or Chem (and Bio must be paired with Chem)? I.e. cannot take just Physics or Chem standalone as an Arts student? If really struggling with Math, the other workaround is to take KI as the contrasting subject. Not sure about JCs, but MI allowed Arts stud...

Re: Triple Sciences

Last time my JC forced me to drop 1 subject cos I was failing. I didnt register for the exam, didnt turn up, but I still saw Ungraded for that subject on my cert. Nobody asked about it. Just saying…it may still show up if ure thinking look nicer. Surely it means that the JC did register you for the...

Thanks KP1, I roughly read some courses and yes seems Maths are important.
Maths is important even for Arts students. Most Arts students still take Maths as the contrasting subject, either at H2 or H1 level. Unless they want to take a science as a contrasting subject, which I think is even harder.

Ok I shall talk to her on this option too..tho she is very reluctant to let go.
So why are you persuading her to drop one? Has she done poorly? Do you think she can't improve? Why does she want to hold on to both?

I can't remember what grade your daughter is in. Is it her Sec4 year?

Re: All About Parenting Teenagers

I shouldn't think too much haha..but to experience the 'sacking' on their first job..wait it will leave them a mark in their heart haha. For some kids, that may be a good thing - wake them up and make them more responsible. But if you have a 'tender' or less able type of kid, then start her off wit...

Re: Triple Sciences

We have 2 Sci now. If take Combined means no Pure le. I m just thinking if take 1 Pure instead of combined, will it be better as, if what I read is correct, then no need study the 150% contents for Combined. If taking just 1 Pure only, does taking Chemistry still has the more advantage over taking ...
