Re: In-law problems?

For a period of time, I was so convinced by my husband to buy a bigger condo to stay with my in-law so it will be easier when it comes to logistics for our children. I was especially tempted as our budget was very tight and put in-law offered to pay for full down payment. I am so happy that in the ...

Re: GEP 2019

it is not a comprehension test - no need to understand 100% "one la" that will take the pleasure out of leisure reading. and if the kid is curious 6 months later, he/she will take the book to re-read and re-understand at the next level. I am not defending Harry Potter readers but their English must ...

Re: GEP 2019

Maybe, it is because the books are inherently thick and the movies are popular? my son picked up a David Walliams recently. words are more spread out and pages come with more pictures (than harry potter) looks equally think and intimidating from the outside. I am curious too. Why do so many mention ...

Re: GEP 2019

quick question:

is the selection based on the bell curve instead of hard cut-off points?

(i.e your score is good or bad, relative to the other candidates only.
If MOE want to select only 1% of the cohort, getting a 70/100 gets you in too, if your 70/100 falls within the 1% region of the bell.)

Re: GEP 2019

Err... no. Say, you learn to speak French in a short time, then certainly it should be a stroll for Spanish, Italian as well? They are testing very different functions (and GEP doesn’t have Chinese component). Actually, yes, because they're all Romance languages. :) (Sorry, couldn't resist.) That I...

Re: GEP 2019

Only 9 schools offer GEP. So if clear 2nd round of selection on 15 & 16 Oct, kid has to choose from these 9 schools only? How many choices does the kid has? I noticed some got affliated sec sch, but some doesnt, wouldn't it be a waste if don't go for affliated schools since got advantageous edge as...

Re: All About Active Community Leaders

No need for ballot is not = to gaining priority admission through home-school distance. Must read very carefully. Example: if all <1km applicants fill the seats exactly, no need ballot. BUT they have gained priority admission through home-school distance, over the eg. 2 fellas who lived 1-2km from ...
