Re: Jc to poly?

Drop your H3 subjects if you are worried. The universities will only look at GP/PW 3H2 and 1H1. Everything else is merely extra. It doesn't help for local uni admissions at all. It only helps for overseas uni or scholarship applications. I suggest you concentrate on your primary subjects of GP, 3H2 ...

Re: Cut throat Education in Singapore!!

Lol. you can still decide not to send your child to a jc. Settle for a poly course. Don't like the system? Nobody is forcing you to play it.

Re: DSA to the U

From a local uni student's standpoint, a transfer is usually hard to get. Once you're in a course, its quite hard to transfer to another course. Even if you do get to, you will have to start back from year 1. Its quite difficult and it will be dependant on your current uni GPA and your A-levels. Of ...

Re: DSA to the U

Yes, NUS/NTU/SMU does have discretionary admissions. HOWEVER, your achievements must be very very outstanding and also coupled with good results. Its not like you are borderline or your results cannot make it into NUS, hence you use your CCA etc to get in. Its more like, your results are very good b...

Re: Bonus points available to use for JC/MI application

I think the point here is to cross the hurdle to go to a good JC n not so much as how important it is to enter the U. Its just like trying to get into an IP Sec School based on PSLE results. Cross the bridge one step at a time. The first step is to get into a better JC n then work hard for A levels...

Re: Knowledge & Inquiry (KI)

For local uni applications, they won't really care. What they want to see is GP, PW, 3H2, 1H1. Even if you take 4H2, you are actually NOT at an advantage over your peers. Say, if you took 4H2 and scored AAAB vs a person who took 3H2 1H1 and scored AAAA. The 3H2 student would be at an advantage as co...

Re: Bonus points available to use for JC/MI application

Actually, in my opinion, those 2 bonus points to affiliated JCs are pretty useless. JC itself is not the end point. So what if you got into a 'good' JC or a JC of your choice? Doesn't guarantee that your A-level will be good. You still have to work equally hard as those from neighbourhood JCs to get...
