Re: RI’s ‘O’ level scores: only one in 10 qualified for JC.

IMO it feels like a complacency problem by the Teachers. Even for Neighbourhood secondary schools, we have psle score of ~200 but we still can get below 20 and below 10. Did the students practice TYS? One of the students said that they felt smth was wrong while doing the o-level paper. Feels like he...

RI’s ‘O’ level scores: only one in 10 qualified for JC.

http://themiddleground.sg/2016/01/18/32412/ By Bertha Henson and Lionel Ong RAFFLES Institution’s (RI) experiment with the “dual track” system seems to have gone a little awry. Its “pioneer” GCE ‘O’ level class achieved dismal results when the 10 students were given their grades on Jan 11. All but ...

Re: Will asperger condition affect University admission?

Mine is, unusually, a girl. And she's more arts-inclined, though we don't think she is ready for university yet (and probably won't get the grades to get in anyway). We are thinking of a poly course for her, probably. Yes, it would be easier for her if she was interested in doing pure Maths! The un...

Re: Appeal Secondary One Posting

Question is : Since MOE refused to let P6 students with even 1 mark below to appeal, all the more, MOE should also start to intervene, ensure that cànnot allow such a wide difference of (30 to 40 plus) privileged discounted points so far off, in the case of IJ Toa payoh and PLMGS High time for Moe ...

Re: Appeal Secondary One Posting

That look really bad for the girl .. poor thing. I also know a case through a colleague. His nephew is affected. But my colleague is keeping quiet about the school name. I believe parents of these affected students are keeping quiet because their kids are already looking bad in front of their frien...

Re: Getting my O level results and need some advice

What do you want to do? Poly? JC?

For JC, you are still eligible for conditional admission. See here:

Re: Millennia Institute

Furthermore Combine Humanities is a tough subject especially it's a combination of SS and history thus it is the norm to fail it in in my usual exams in school. I know that it is hard for me to be able to get into JC now but I wonder if i could still try Millennia Institute. A friend told me that I...

Re: Free Car Park at School

Much here is opportunistic G-bashing by the usual suspects, who probably aren't even teachers themselves. There are plenty of other civil servants working OT, there are plenty of other civil servants who take work home, make longish commutes, pay for stuff out of pocket. And no, no ministry is char...

Re: Free Car Park at School

MOE & AGC just cheapened the teaching profession which moe trying to convince people that it is so noble. The school carpark should then be opened to all public at all hours too, else they are losing out so much money. Somehow the govt is able to prostitute every thing But you have teachers like on...

Re: Free Car Park at School

The biggest problem about this FOC parking is the unfairness amongst school staff. Free parking is a benefit only to those who own cars. But what about those who do not own cars? If they do not receive free parking then how should they be compensated? There is a hidden cost to free parking, taxpayer...
