Re: Opinions of the Primary School Registration System

1. moving popular primary schools to less-central locations 2. standardising more programmes across the primary schools i.e. less empowerment for primary schools to run their own programmes or more budget from MOE on standardisation (but is this what we want? I don't know  ) I concur with po...

Re: Next General Election

Singapore has done it again, and again in topping global school rankings. This spells trouble for our students...because standard of Math will continue to get difficult. We also continue to be a tuition nation. Our math is okay. Not so hard. Especially at O-level. Honestly, we are not that far ahea...

Re: Next General Election

I'd honestly like to see more academics as candidates. The SMU Asst Prof Eugene Tan has been pretty good and outspoken as an NMP. I feel that we have lots of intellectual potential in NUS/NTU/SMU that are left untapped when it comes to nation building. And as much as people hate on 'paper generals',...

Re: Workers' Party AHPETC: Key Lapses (AGO report)

At least one side is quick to rectify such lapses when they are discovered. The chairman involved with the discrepancies has already stepped down and is cooperating with investigations. source: http://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/sin ... 86198.html While the other side doesn't even want to admit tha...

Re: Opinions of the Primary School Registration System

I heard of a case: "A" lives < 100m away from a popular school for more than 5 years, but lost during the ballot. Ended up, she quit her job just to personally send her kid to a school quite far from her home. To save time for the kid, so that the little girl can rest in the car. In the same year, ...

Re: DBSS projects

some people who buy BTOs stay there for a period of time, after the MOP of 5 years, they upgrade to a bigger flat, or condo. when they do so, there is an expectation of making a profit. first batch of pinnacle owners have sold their units for a tidy sum. They can expect as much as they want. But it...

Re: DBSS projects

Well, the intention of public housing was never meant for flipping. Its to ensure that even low to mid income households can afford a roof over their heads. To me, if their intention was to buy a public flat and flip for profits then got no one else to blame other than their own greed. Im actually ...

Re: DBSS projects

We were curious about DBSS then...idea sounds interesting IF the flat is indeed move in condition...as in paint the flat, buy lights and move in. No need to put up with contractor over renovation. Renovation is very ex, but the price tag is too high. Now looks like buyers can forget about selling t...

Re: Let's Talk about National Service

If he was able to get into Cambridge, maybe he turned down less prestigious local uni med school places so can't encourage him to serve as MO? Or maybe there is a chance he might not come back to serve that balance 1 month after his studies? That's not how it works. All doctors become MOs during re...

Re: Let's Talk about National Service

Other than the Pre-enlistment Medical Screening that will be provided by govt, is there any other medical tests that will be good to take before enlistment? Just to be safe... IMO the pre-enlistment screening is quite thorough. I know a friend who actually had a heart murmur and was not aware of it...
