Re: Big fish in small pond OR small fish in big pond?

A DC cannot grow academically, and in terms of emotional intelligence, if they are a big fish in a little pond. Peer competition can only improve the performance of a little fish in a big pond. I can say this from the context of my two children at their school, here in England.

He was also a generous benefactor to random vulnerable members of the community. A fantastic songsmith, vocalist and performer, too. Such a shame, barely passed his 50s.

Re: The world has changed...

"The story of Great Britain's decline should be held up as a cautionary tale." True, but more a fast downward spiral, than a decline. Our resurgence started with BREXIT. Once the home nations divorce each other, and go it alone, I believe England will have a more marked impact on world affairs, trad...

Re: The world has changed...

Phtthp England is also a small dot. It can be a great nation if it leaves the UK union. I live in a part of England, which has been blighted by economic policies over that last 50 years. Inward investment and the associated job creation is much needed, to create a safe and content voting public. The...

Phtthp

I would not listen to the thoughts of the Daily mirror newspaper. No one takes it seriously over here. It is a left wing newspaper that blindly followed (and danced on the shirt tails of) Blair and Brown. 'Nuff' said.

Re: The world has changed...

"I find it somewhat ironic that many in the West are asking for some isolationism when globalization, open and free market was trumpeted by their leaders not so many moons ago. Pushing the rest of the world (and especially Asia) to open up was their mantra for the longest time that I can remember." ...

for the boy who is expelled, this is not the first time he is doing it. the police should be called in...but if the police is called in and the boy commits suicide, then the parents will raise hell. Then the responsible thing to do is not to discuss this any further. No janet88!!! That is very much...

Re: The world has changed...

"What I am against is how the leaders (Nigel Farage, Boris Johnson, Drumpf) that advocate change do so using lies and deception to instill fear and xenophobia amongst the populace." Are you saying that these are the only politicians that lie and deceive. They all lie and deceive. Though I would say ...

Re: The world has changed...

Hi From England, notice I did not say UK or GB. Will come to that later. I voted Brexit, and also empathise with why the USA voted Trump. A perfect storm comprising globalisation, loss of white/blue collar jobs, insecure jobs, unfettered immigration and an autocratic enforcement of a progressively l...
