Dear iluvcruising2 and slmkhoo, Thank you for your comments and advice re the weather. :thankyou: I am now working out a rough itinerary to know if I should be buying a return ticket to London or buy an open jaw ticket (SIN-EDI-LHR-SIN). How much time should I allow for transit? Is 1.5H too short? ...

Re: The ticking time bomb of the 99-year-leasehold HDB flats

with 99yr lease, those who had bought direct from hdb will have been long gone and these properties are being pass down to the next gen. so in a way, these 2nd gen got their property for free. as for those ppl who bought their 20yr old hdb for 1m, well it is their own choice. willing buyer, willing ...

Re: Travel: United Kingdom - London

I've flown to Gatwick multiple times. I don't find the transfer to London difficult - Gatwick Express departs usually 4 times an hour in the day. Very smooth and comfortable ride to Victoria in 30 to 35 minutes. I flew Norwegian premium class last year (hence I can't comment about the Economy) - it...

OK, thanks. Don't really like to arrive at Gatwick. You took Norwegian?

Re: HDB and Condo

i will go for the homogeneous tiles but matt surface. i have matt homo tiles. i seriously wont recommend it for anyone. it trap dirt and its difficult to clean it due to the little grooves. occasionally, i need to clean the flooring with scrub. same goes for those wood like tiles. pretty to look at...

Re: HDB and Condo

I believe it's a matter of fairness. You either buy a brand new 'subsidized' flat from hdb or you buy a resale and the govt provide this-and-that grant to reduce the cost of the purchase...you get to enjoy it once. If you want to enjoy any subsidy again, you will have to return the first 'discount'...

Re: Supermarkets in talks to charge for plastic bags

for those that shop in wet market, try bringing containers for your meat and fish. I do that all the time at my wet market, try to avoid the peak hours. after a few tries, the store holders know to ask for my containers for my purchase. and my freezer compartment got alot neater too. and there is no...

Re: Reusable bags - what to do with them?

For those you have in excess, do give it to 'SayNoToPlasticsSG'. but most importantly, stop collecting them from shop by BYO. Plan your shopping so that you can better estimate the amount of bags required and bring enough of them to contain your purchase. for those that order from redmart, honeybee ...
