Re: China Drama

Apparently, it was Bai Jingting's first screen kiss. Sadly, Sandra Ma was criticized by netizens for her weight in the show - she did fight back. I found her extremely authentic. I think it didn't help that she was co-starring alongside Bai Jingting who is really quite thin. Wife thought Bai is too...

Re: How much is enough for retirement in Singapore?

I also fear living into my 90s - my grandmother did, and my mother is in her mid-80s and in pretty good health although we can see things "wearing out". While Chinese like to wish each other long life, I think I would like "long" defined as 70+, not 90+! My grandmother was a widow for about 20 year...

Re: How much is enough for retirement in Singapore?

Each trip to ntuc, I am sure to find prices of items gone up. FP sweetcorn used to be $1.30 and now is $1.35. a lot of things has gone up in price since start of 2022, then again during CNY, probably 20~30% total. If there's something that didn't go up as much, you have to check if they shrink the ...

Re: China Drama

Sometimes I can't help but "differentiate" them as from HK cos their 嘴形 and the 配音 doesn't match or their own voice sounds "strange" when speaking in Mandarin, like 钟汉良 in 今生有你 which doodbug mentioned. That little boy 平平 is so uber adorable!! Not easy to have a child to be so composed in fr...

 Oh yes, not long ago 袁咏仪‘s son got into "trouble" with netizens for "differentiating" Hong Kong from China.
these days need to be politically (literally in this case) correct in whatever one says

but for me, 'HK' is more like whether the actors are TVB originated

Re: How much is enough for retirement in Singapore?

Each couple has different lifestyle & therefore different amount required. I’d take the current monthly expediture (assuming you want to continue living same lifestyle), then multiply by 12 months. Remember to also add in health insurance costs (payable annually) & medicine costs (for the 三高 and ac...

100k per year means 8k+ per mth.
if the couple can live 30 years more, they would need 100k x 30 = 3 mil :yikes:
I guess that's the difference between getting by with what is necessary and maintaining the current lifestyle.

Re: How much is enough for retirement in Singapore?

Assuming you are 65 now and just retired from your job. For whatever reason, you don't own any property. You have a spouse in a similar situation. Both relatively health, with the usual elderly aches and pain and maybe medically controlled 三高。 How much do you foresee you and your spouse will need in...
