Re: Overseas Uni after O Levels

Bridging or I think what its normally called, foundation programs, are much much easier than the A-levels. But the cons are that its expensive as compared to local JCs. And its not really recognised in many places. Usually its only recognised in the home countries. Say you take a foundation program ...

Highly untrue statement here. I've already made 2 friends who were from ITE went to poly and are now in NUS and NTU.

Re: Parent as Guarantor for Tution Fee Loan form local bank

[quote="DadOfGirl" If so, then CPF loan is not better than Bank Loans. You get 0 % till you study and when you finish , Parent can get 25K personal loan at 2.5 % from market in today's time & Pay Student loan of Child's. Any thoughts? For my second DD we have to arrange fund for local uni admission ...

Re: Parent as Guarantor for Tution Fee Loan form local bank

My understanding of CPF loan is that child can take his/her time to repay loan. If cannot, the parent can apply to CPF to write off loan so child doesn't need to pay. This is what my ex colleague told me. Even if the loan repayment is delayed, interest would still be accrued or at least pegged to i...

Re: Tourism course in Poly

I would personally advise against tourism. Prospect doesn't look too bright as compared to courses like engineering/science and finance.

Re: Parent as Guarantor for Tution Fee Loan form local bank

To be honest, as a university student myself, I am against the belief that parents should pay for university tuition fees. Yes, parents do have an obligation to support a child's needs in terms of living allowance while the child is studying. I myself get about $280 a month from my parents. This amo...

Re: JCs - Parents Networking Group

May i know based on what to compete for the popular Major ?? Since it is stated tt every students are given the same amount of points for each semester to bid.... That means results dont play a part ? Sorri, quite clueless... I believe for FASS, in your first year, you have to take up some exposure...

Re: JCs - Parents Networking Group

Thanks! Does NTU Arts/Humanities department work the same way? I'm not even sure my daughter can get in eventually, but it seems like getting in is only the first hurdle! Thankfully the courses she is likely to want to do are not the named 'popular' ones! Why can't NUS be like the UK universities w...

Re: 2014 A level results

Apart from waiting with high anxiety, is it possible to call n check on status of application? How long more do you have to wait n if unsuccessful, will they send you a letter of reject? Unadvisable. Its a waste of time to do that. They won't entertain. Rush for a response and the response you migh...

Re: 2014 A level results

Until now my child has no offer from nus. Does it mean that her chance of being offered a course at nus gets slimmer now? She has more n more frds sharing that they have been offered by fass, sc or maths etc. Whenever she shares this info with us, all we can see is her "what about me?" look & we ju...
