Re: Cost of not fulfilling a government scholarship/award

Always be careful when signing a bond. Make sure you know that this is what you want to do and commit your mind and body to it. Although the 76k looks quite exorbitant. The reality is that approximately 54k was given in cash form to the student. So only about 22k was the cost of the degree. I have a...

Re: Pursue Uni or work?

In any case, never put off education. This is very clear cut case of long-term benefits over short-term benefits. Im not trying to imply anything but studies have shown that poorer and uneducated individuals tend to make decisions with short-term benefits instead of long-term benefits. Whereas long-...

Re: Pursue Uni or work?

Uni first. You can take a minor or a second major in what you are interested in in University. Or even better, you can transfer to a course you like after your first semester/year. You can't defer admission unless there is either a medical reason or NS. Other reasons won't be accepted by the univers...

Re: Guide: All About A Levels

Yeah, some people would rather head to the UK to study the A-levels and continue in a UK university. Its actually much easier but it is costly. But UK universities don't really recognise the difference in standards IMO. I guess they may have vested interests in 'protecting' the prestige of the UK A-...

Got a chance for SMU biz, but accountancy is probably out of your options.

Re: 2013 A Level Results

Hi all I've just receive my A levels results and I miss the 10th percentile of NUS FASS by 2.5 rank points. My total rank points is 75 and 10th percentile for FASS is 77.5. For NUS discretionary admission they included some samples of exceptional achievements that the University may take into consi...

Re: SHOULD I RETAKE MY O'LEVEL ENGLISH??

Its advisable to retake and try and pass at least. Having a good command of the language will really help you in life, especially in a university context. I would recommend that you retake it, its only one subject. If you invest 4-6 hours a week on it with a good tutor, I'm sure you could at least p...

Re: HOW TO GET A GOOD GPA IN POLY?

Presumably you have to concentrate in class and study hard like everybody else. Im not entirely sure if any other alternative exists. Is that not straightforward enough? You go to school to study, universities are institutions of academia, hence you'd need to study?

Re: Is meeting the 10th percentile good chance for the cours

Two potential scenarios - a. If two students have identical UAS both apply for same course, does it mean that the student with 'better' H2 grades stands a better chance to be offered a place? b. The IGP assumed grade C for GP and PW. If a student has GP=E and PW=A, the points if we calculated is sa...

Re: Mother tongue in university application

I think MT in JC is pretty much useless. It does nothing to improve one's admission chances. In uni, they usually just look at your GP, 3H2 and 1H1. Even if you took a 4th H2 subject, it eventually gets 'downgraded' to a H1 like everyone else. I was part of a group of friends that was terrible in MT...
