Re: 2016 PSLE Discussions (Born in 2004)

Likewise here, no time to do proper revision. I just hope that by the actual SA1, dd won't forget everything, which she has the tendency of doing. Sigh :faint: I want to be hands off and leave it to the school...but there are some topics which she is not familiar with. Doing paper after paper is no...

Re: 2016 PSLE Discussions (Born in 2004)

My sister (taking PSLE this year) has lots of Maths homework currently. The Paper 2 questions are awfully difficult, fit only for intellectual children. You see, her teacher continues to give maths practice papers without going through in depth on the method to solve those challenging questions, so ...

No they are not necessary. However if you are rich, then you may think otherwise. Rich people are more kiasu than the poor.

Re: PSLE science question is tough for kids

Science open ended questions are generally marked by key words for example they ask why is the buns moist? (the buns are hot and are inside a closed box) The key words that teachers are looking for are words like condensation evaporation lose heat touch cooler surface etc. As long as you remember t...

Re: Which is the most difficult O Level Subject?

Additional maths is the MOST difficult subject you'll ever study. It will stretch your brains much more than studying Shakespeare for your literature.

Re: Homework is useless, according to Experts

Giving homework is not really a form of 'child labour'. It's 'brain labour'. Do it slowly and take it easy. Be involved in it.

Re: How many hours should a JC student study?

A JC student should study everyday, every time when they are free. No question. Study till you know it. Best of all, master it. You'll know when you are done studying.

Re: My son not coping well in JC 1 now/is Poly route better

If he's isn't very passionate about studying, then taking a specialist course in polytechnic will be suitable, because it is just one subject. Failing so many subjects in JC means something insidious is going on, and part of it may be due to his friends and attitude.

Re: 2014 Sec 4 Discussions and sharings

Haha, if you're a student, you'd be amazed to see how easy the 'O' levels are, provided if you work assiduously and conscientiously beforehand and you are not the stereotypical last-minute slacker who will grip the Buddha's foot, as the Chinese adage says. The prelims are so-so, and if they're diffi...

Re: Depressed over p3 results

Listen...don't berate your child for her mediocre results. There are probably flaws in her tutor's teaching. The tutor doesn't fit your child's shallow understanding yet. If you have studied the syllabus in the recent years, you will probably know what the skills your girl needs to learn and cultiva...
