Best jobs in Singapore for Dads & Mums

Postby Donkey Kong » Wed May 05, 2010 6:12 pm

Economy is good. The musical chair starts again. What is a good company to join and what is bad to avoid? What is a good company for good mums and dads?

1. Good childcare facilities
2. Family friendly HR policies
3. More annual leaves / childcare leaves / exam offs
4. No OT
5. Flexible hours / Work-at-home arrangement
6. Any more to add?

Companies in Singapore are broadly classified into:

1. Govt jobs - civil servants (Teachers,etc.)
2. Stat Boards - ENV, HDB, LTA, Universities/Polys etc.
3. Govt-linked Companies - SIA, Sembcorp, Keppel, etc.
4. Private Overeas MNCs - HP, IBM, etc.
5. Private Local MNCs - DBS, UOB, Creative, Aztech, etc.
6. Private SMEs incl. OMO Towkays.
7. Any more categories?

Govt, Stat Boards, GLCs have the most scholars and many private job seekers said promotion opportunities limited. True? :?

Private Overseas MNCs are the best. They treat you like adults. Good welfare... True?

Private local companies are most kitty.... management by sight. :P Cannot see you = you are not working..

HDB very family friendly. Can bring kids to workplace whole day. :celebrate: Toa Payoh one. True? :?

Need a job that allows me to sneak in/out of office like Peter Parker! :!: SpiderMan.

Some can 1pm fetch son from school, sneak back office. Knock off again to fetch daughter from school at 6:15pm. Marikita haven't started, saw his car already there....

During the chaos, peep at his car label: Some big Shipyard.... hahhahaa
:celebrate: Must apply to be a good daddy.

I think sales jobs suit your description. Maybe insurance or property agent also quite flexible. :D

On public transport, heard everybody talking loudly on mobile phones: Jumping Ships. :!:

Filipino staff also said she sent out several applications, asking her friend if the benefits are good....

Malaysian PR lady chatting in mandarin, jumping soon, to another competitor, higher pay.

The wave is ON! :dancing: Everybody is moving.

Move it, Move it.... :celebrate:

Yeah.. quite a lot of openings in last week recruitment. But worry about Europe crisis might cause another recession.
