Does your child kiss you on the lips?

Postby markfch » Fri May 28, 2010 11:50 am

I'm dh and my ds likes to kiss me on the lips. Help :!:

I personally find that quite repulsive and will always 'violently' clean my mouth after each kiss, to the amusement of my ds. Thus, more reaction I exhibit, the more amusing it becomes (to him that is). Question. Does your kid do that to you too?

For DS1 (8 yo) still loves to kiss on our lips, not frequently though, once a while....And the kisses from him are not "watery"

As for DS2 (4 yo), we will prefer to kiss on him more (either on cheeks or lips), BUT, he will :siam: from us, and if we manage to kiss on him, he will clean off with his hand and smell his hand and comment "smelly/not smelly" :P

markfch,

Continue to let ds kiss u before he outgrown of it, and he dun fell like doing it again  Maybe u can close your lips tightly b4 ds kiss u, then u dun have to 'violently' clean your mouth after each kiss... Do cherish this kisses now before they are gone....

Hi markfch,

You seem to raise such interesting topics that I must comment!

Yes, my 2.5 yo son kisses us on the lips and he is SO SWEET!
Since young we (and the maid!) kiss him a lot but we are surprise that he seems to have much love inside him and he likes to smooch us ie. each time the Barney show finished and the song "I love you...you love me....we are happy family! With a great big hug and a kiss from me to you....(DS will run to us and SMOOCH!).

But his is the closed-mouth pucker up his lips type so not wet! Sometimes he smooch our maid so much I get jealous. He also kisses his daddy on the lips but not as much as us. His daddy will ask for it and when DS smooch him, he really loves it!

So you are greatly bless that your son likes to kiss you! When he next kisses you, perhaps you can smooch back and than "rough house" play with him! That would be great fun for both of you!

My boy kisses us on the lips! I was telling hubs that must make him continue to kiss us till we die!

I have a student (15yo), he still tells his mum 'I love you, kiss kiss' over the phone, in front of the whole class! And he's proud to love his parents!
I want my boy to be proud of our family and not be afraid to show his love too :)

Thanks for the compliment. My posts tend to be light-hearted and sometimes tongue-in-cheek kind so they may strike a chord with some people

Trust me, I really close my lips very tightly already. In fact my eyes are also shut (cos I can't bear to see) and the muscles in my whole face automatically tightened up whenever this happens. DS, outgrow this quickly, pls pls pls

No no no

He gives me that v v european style 'muack muack' on both sides of the cheek, that too with only cheeks touching ...... only when I insist, does he give me a real kiss .... but again on the cheeks.

It seems that he feels paiseh to kiss me on the lips. Thats the impression that I get.

But I tell you what markfch, he gives real solid hugs for someone his age and when he holds me hand ... wow, the reassuring squeezes he gives .... that more than makes it up for not kissing me on the lips *BIG grin*

Now my turn .... to ask that is ....

Out of curiousity, why do you find it repulsive??? Is it a guy thing or could it be that perhaps you were not brought up in an overtly affectionate environment :?

If my ds continues to kiss me even when he's 15, I think I'm the one that will die :slapshead:

Kids are affectionate by nature and they will outgrow I suppose.

However, like you, I do not like to promote mouth-kissing culture as this is not our culture so even if she occasionally wants to fool around with me, I will stop her. Even without doing this, she is already very affectionate like a koala bear, so I am fine without it.

I believe there are many ways to display affection. However, if other parents do it with their kids, I am ok too. :celebrate:

I think it's a mixture of both. I'm just more used to ds writing me little notes to say he loves me 500% today, or drawing a black fish to relate that I gave him a black face today. Or taking $2 from my wallet to 'reward' me because something I did pleased him today. But hey, that's my money in the first place :moneyflies:. He must have learnt this bad habit from dw
