Overcrowded MRT at peak hours

Postby daisyt » Thu Jul 22, 2010 6:14 pm

I am not here to discuss politics but this overcrowding MRT at peak hours is quite a serious problem. I am very worried when my child has to change at JE as JE is famous for overcrowding. Lucky they install the safety door, at least my worries is cut down. Being still kids, sometimes, they don't know how to squeeze in. There are times, she need to wait 2 MRT before can get in. Sometimes, when she takes MRT to school, she is very puzzled why everyone is like running and rushing to the escalator. I find this kind of act rushing, can be quite dangerous to the elderly and kids. I am not blaming them and I understand, people have to move fast or else the overcrowding at the platform can be dangerous too.

It seems that no matter town area or non town area, peak hours are always crowded. I am wondering how are they going to solve this problem? :(

do what the japs do? :?

but on a serious note. I do think the planners under-estimated when doing capacity planning.

They had people who "helped" by pushing the passengers in?

They have 'helpers' stationed on platforms to push in the commuters.
The commuters are packed like sardines in the coaches,
and many cases of groping goes on such that
they now have 'women' only coaches.
But the Japanese generally are conscious of public hygiene
so it is not so bad;
imagine this situation in S'pore? :!:
