Aiyo...I am trying to avoid this topic with my 8YO. Recently she has been asking me questions about this and one hilarious one was:
dd: mummy, if the whole world die....who is going to attend the funeral(btw, she has not been to one so far so it puzzles me why the ceremony?)
me: *thud* is there a need to attend?

What 2012? What day, time? Where can I hide? Oh my I only got a little more than two years to live, and my life been so great especially now with a new child on board.
I remember when I was widdle and someone was already predicting the end of the world then, and I have been curiously waiting since then too. My silly vision is still the same as then. The Earth will crack on two halves from the impact of the asteroid. Earth will loose its gravity and all of us will fall into space. Disclaimer note - my imagination not necessarily supports the laws of physics.
How about other possibilities? The sun will overheat and we will all fry and then the Earth will melt away. Yes never know who will screw up that sun dial and instead of regulating the heat, will crank it up too high. After all we are one living dust particle in the Universe, and the traffic may just get worst. The possibilities are endless.
However, premeditated end of the world is possible also at any minute - how about wars, how about nuclear weapons, one of the Einstein's warnings, a button to press and an evil mind - that scares me the most. That would destroy us in matter of seconds. A deadly virus created in the lab wouldn't do any justice to us either. Then population growth, hunger, naturally evolving viruses. Okay, okay I think you got the picture.
The bottom line is that I don't want to die yet. This world is too beautiful to be wasted just like that - just look around you. I will pray for this world, I will pray for people to be good, and I will ask God to give us one more chance. Please don't touch that dial. As of us people, I will do my job here on Earth and ensure that there will be no more evil, okay may be less evil. After all you gave us decency, intelligence and rational thinking.
For those of you who think that we may too late with our prayers - better go and get your survival kit ready. I've watched enough space movies to learn something from them. Never hurts to be positive and believe in survival.
Happy life to all of you, it ain't going to happen. Peace.

When I was in Shanghai recently, my colleagues chatted about this movie. I've not seen it yet. They said some youngsters are really taking it easy.
For me.... if the world really ends at 2012, I think we should all quit our job, schools (no more KSP, PV, PSLE), enjoy life the best that we can and then wait for the day to come. But what if it don't?????? Oops.
When I was in my teenage life, they spoke about end of the world in 2009. Then my bible knowledge teacher said that it probably signifies the end of spiritual world and not physical world. It came and go.

Because you're law abiding so you choose to just enjoy life (the remaining of it). But for others, there would be anarchy, with lots of looting & violence & selfishness if they really think that the world would end soon.MMM wrote:For me.... if the world really ends at 2012, I think we should all quit our job, schools (no more KSP, PV, PSLE), enjoy life the best that we can and then wait for the day to come.
