Live Coverage of Chile mine disaster rescue

Postby verykiasu2010 » Wed Oct 13, 2010 6:05 pm

The 33 miners have been trapped for the past 68 days

Initially given up hope from those above ground, but eventually it is hope that prevailed and the resilience of the miners that saved them

The live coverage is still ongoing on CNN. It is good to let the kids watch the epic rescue effort and learn a thing or two about resilience and caring for community (group spirit in the interest of survival for all) while they waited for their rescue and NEVER give up hope.

One up for human spirit and for those who believe in God, it is truly a miracle

As one of the miners said after being rescued, he met God down there

The Chilean president was there to welcome the miners

The Bolivian president was there too to welcome his citizen

Yes, I have been following the LIVE coverage on CNN yesterday and its very touching.

Read on cnn website, the China miners were watching this too and people have some doubts. Would their government go all the way like the Chile, to save them if they are in the same situation? I have some thoughts and I can say, media is a very powerful tool!

Mining is the economic life blood of Chile, not China.

If Chile does not do it, it will be trouble for its president and the country when no miners want to work

Now that the Chinese miners have seen it, their demand for safety protection will be different

Powerful! From a Christian perspective, it reminds me of the story of God with the 4 men in the fire in the book of Daniel.

I heard about this mishap a few mths back while listening to BBC. One of the daily routines for these trapped miners is the exchange of letters between them & their loved ones. One of the miners actually wrote to his wife of 20 yrs 'we never had a proper wedding before, if I get out alive, we're going to have a grand church wedding.'

So touching.
