http://news.omy.sg/News/Local%2BNews/St ... 94102.html

It is possible / or quite definite that the "neighbourhood" schools will benefit from the management experience of the leadership from a famous school or school with established track record & traditions.

What are the possibilities for the school if a neighbourhood school principal is posted to head a famous school or school with established track record & traditions ?

This is NOT to insult anyone, just a discussion.

In case anyone thinks this is an insult to anyone

If the principal is able to turn around the neighbourhood school and transform it to churn out quality students, I don't see why he/she would be denied a chance to head an elite school. It's kind of like the coaches going from the minor leagues to the major league in sports.

The neighbourhood school will definitley benefit. However, it also depends on the neighbourhood school cohort. Trying applying management style that works for elite school like RI to a low cohort school like (PSLE entry score at 200) and the effect will be ...... The dynamics are just diff.

For principals who manage the neighbourhood schools well, they would need to be promoted so there is a possibility for them to be promoted to an elite school in time to come or even work in the head office at MOE itself. If a direct entry would not gain acceptance easily or too big a jump for them to understand the culture, they would probably have to go through an intermediate promotion to the next level's school before arriving at the elite schools.

Some teachers are good at teaching the 'cream of the crops' while some specialise in helping those who are not so academically inclined to do well.

I am wondering if it is the same for principals. Just my take.
