Reimbursement of injury bill

Postby jaztonmum » Fri Jan 28, 2011 1:05 pm

Hi all, my son having his one eye injured by classmate. I believe it should be an accident, however the medical bill is expensive for eye specialist consultation and treatment. Typically in this kind of cases, do we approach the classmate parent for compensation? Thanks in advance for your opinion...

Hi, your child probably has a Personal Accident Insurance bought through the school unless you opt out of the scheme. You should be able to make some claim under the insurance. If it is purely an accident, asking the parent to pay may sour relations, in my opinion.

Since the incident happened in school, you should be able to claim from the insurance company that covers the student under group personal accident insurance.

Also, before you ask the parents to pay, do you have evidence that their son was the cause?
