Indecisive - Should I Change Job - Please Help !

Postby gumiho » Mon Jan 31, 2011 11:57 am

Hi,

I am unable to decide which options to go for.
Someone please enlighten me.

1) Current Job (Small Co) - A job whereby not so stressful and daily tasks are managable. However, colleagues are not helpful. Manager is rude and harsh with words. Being verbally abused for several times.

2) New Job (MNC) - Understand has to perform intense and stressful tasks. Working hour are slightly longer. Manager and colleagues - unknown. Offering the same salary as my current job.

I am in a similar situation; current job stressful, no pay rise but workload increases gradually. Unsure if want to quit and stay at home OR look for a new job and face new colleagues/bosses etc.

Right now, still stay-put at the current job because I love the $$. But at times continue to complain, lament, curse and swear...

My primary deciding factors for considerations will be:

1. Do I want to be there for the kids to coach them in their work (we have no domestic helpers, so just me, spouse and the kids)?
2. Which is the job that can offer me the luxury of time to achieve Q1?

Hi BlueBells,

I definitely wish to have more time to coach my kids. When I went for interview at the new company, almost 3/4 of the staffs had left at around 6.30pm. Therefore, I assume that the OT wouldn't be much.

The long working hour I mentioned is as follow :-
Current Company : 9am-6pm
New Company : 8.30am-6pm

For my current company, I do not require to work OT but I don't know about the new company.

Go home on the dot is the best, no OT. If verbally abused you can record it down & complain to MOM!

I did called up AWARE for advise. According to the lady, I can take legal action against my manager however I may have to be mentally prepared to lose the job.

I think maybe my manager know my weakness.

Hi gumiho,

How long have you been working in this small company?

Any reason why MNC did not offer you higher pay than current? A bit unusual because usually the hiring manager will at least give you SOME increase if they are really interested to get you over.

:celebrate:
