The fourth generation (housing, future, etc ...)

Postby JonC » Tue Apr 05, 2011 12:09 am

First generation (from China), my grandparents, salary not too clear, public housing few thousand.

Second generation, my parents, salary few hundred to thousand, public housing less than 20 thousand.

Third generation, myself, then salary in thousands, then public housing in lower few hundred thousand.

Now, still Third generation, salary still in thousands, public housing in mid/upper few hundred thousand.

Future, fourth generation, our DS / DD, starting salary probably still in few thousand, but public housing maybe beyond 1 million.

Future, where?

Any comments?

hmm.. how come the title got "leadership"?

btw, it's saddening that some 4G are not Made In Singapore.. or served NS..

Is Made In Singapore is low quality that there has to be foreign imports..?

If the leaders feel that Imports is Better than Made In Singapore ones, what is left for the local species?

Hey, who change the title, it's not housing only, it's about future.

No comments so far, or too worried about their future to comment or too busy / start looking for more money to buy houses for them ...

No choice. But if there is something we as parent can do, i.e. quickly buy a unit at present price and let the children take over when they are working. At least we are locking the pricing at present level rather than during the 4G time, which can be double or triple liao...

Alternatively, our 4G can become foreign talent in another country

Most likely the majority of the 4G would hv to rent/share rooms/flats in S'pore like what the young pple in major Chinese cities or UK is doing now.

Our plan is to let our sons continue to stay in & maintain our flat (until they can afford a place of their own = don't know when :? ) while we buy a property in Msia & retire there w our savings. When our health deteriorates badly or our partner passed away then the remaining one will return back to S'pore (to die  ).
