Old books - who to give to?

Postby dovetail » Tue Jun 07, 2011 8:54 pm

Have just cleared my kid's bookshelves. Where's the best place to send the old books to?

I don't feel like giving to Salvation Army as they seem to anyhow treat the books.

Is it possible to give to the NLB? I want to remove the books asap.

NLB has a collection box for this scheme called Book Cross. They will pass books around for people to read at public places, and expect those books to be passed on so that more people will have access to books for reading. You may want to try that.

I think that one for adult fiction only right? I like the book exchange scheme but currently it's not on. For this at least I know the books go to people who wants to read them.

How about "Books to read"? For a very good cause. However, the books they need are "primary and secondary school text books, general reading books, encyclopedias and story books. "

Mine are 4 and 6 but I wouldn't mind slightly more advanced books. TIA
