What are the factors for good result (pri level)?

Postby KSP » Mon Aug 15, 2011 3:07 pm

i would rank the factors as follows.....

1st. The child - i believe if a star is bright no matter where it is, it will shine.....

2nd. The family background, environment, parents and sbilings.

3rd. The school environment, teachers and students.

4th. The enrichment classes - this will depend on how deep the parents' pocket is and how much the child can absorb from the lessons....

i believe there are more factors than these 4..... please share your comments and opinions......

quite fair but those factors are not mutually exclusive....it is a combination of those factors

may be to improve the survey, put in a scale for each factor, and tabulate it

KSP - interesting poll!
My ranking would be
1st. The child - i believe if a star is bright no matter where it is, it will shine.....

2nd. The school environment, teachers and students.
3rd. The family background, environment, parents and siblings.

2nd and 3rd is a bit difficult to decide.
As long as a emotionally stable home environment is there school environment matters more. But having a disturbing home environment can be a having a huge impact.

4th. The enrichment classes - the effect of this one is difficult to say.
suitable enrichment classes which stimulate the child, with necessary followup ( done by child himself or with parents support) is very useful.
Otherwise the effect is hardly there - especially the academic enrichment.
Take children from the same school, same class, studying in the same top enrichment centre, the school exam scores vary widely - the marks obtained vary from the highest to average and at times even the bottom few.

My ranking is:

1st. The child- i believe if a star is bright no matter where it is, it will shin....

2nd. School with supportive and responsible teacher. ( without supportive, encouraging teacher children will eventually dislike going to school)

3rd. The family support to the child is important with enrichement class and parents supervise in their work.

4th. Good relationship with parents.

Mine will be the same as KSP.

Aside from the individual themselves, the most important factor will be family. The rest are important but not necessarily core or driving factors.

My ranking

1. Parents and sbiling - to monitor progress and give motivational speeches regularly
2. The child - with confidence and high self-esteem
3. Enrichment classes - especially during preschool years for headstart

10. The school

for me the school plays a great part.
First parents teach the child how to behave at school, pay attention at class and absorb.
Child has the passion to learn and explore newthings
If above two are great then if the school should be teach/guide well then no need entrichment.
One of the above failure then need Entrichment.

If you have kids who are at both end of the spectrum, you will understand, even they are from the same family.

The most important primary factor is still the child himself/herself.

The rest are secondary.

I would say:

#1 - Child. A child that's self-motivated, drive and natural intelligence will go a long way.
#2 - Family. The support from the family, a conducive home environment...
#3 - School. To teach all that's necessary in the syllabus.
#4 - Enrichment. For those who need it.
