SMRT CEO: If LTA fines us, so be it

Postby raysusan » Tue Aug 23, 2011 8:57 am

Ms Saw remains defiant and went on to defend SMRT’s ‘track record’ in an interview with MediaCorp’s Channel 8.

“SMRT may not be the best transport company in the world, but our services are up to standard…,” she said in Mandarin.

When asked if SMRT will get fined by the Land Transport Authority (LTA), Ms Saw retorted callously:

“If LTA decides to fine us, so be it.”

In response to the security breach, an ‘independent’ committee will be set up to conduct a comprehensive review of security measures and management of the company with Ms Saw chairing it.

Ms Saw added that top priority for the company now is to ensure all security gaps are immediately addressed and added that the perimeter defence is the most important in preventing any sort of breach.

evidently smrt had to retract an earlier statement blaming the security company 100% on the breach

saying taking 100% responsibility is just a PR speech to admit that they were wrongly blaming others

also, CEO does not know what scope they have signed with the security company ?

whose head and how many heads going to roll for all these before a terror disaster happens ?

That is what happen when there is no competition! They know whatever is the case, they are the only operator and we still need to use their services

a $50,000 fine is a slap on the wrist for SMRT. Fine them a few millions and see if the CEO talks the same tune to "we will accept whatever fines LTA impose on us". Funny, I thought they already had an internal security review after the first graffiti incident. Looks like that one didn't pan out.
Her job isn't on the line, so it's business as usual.
